A couple of pics of my 1929 Ford pickup rat rod. I streched the frame lowered the front and rear suspention, i removed the bed floor so i can install a wood floor which will be weathered i cut down the grille shell. The engine is an over head valve straight 8 with a turbo also streched that from a 6 cyclinder and added a four speed trans. Any and all comments welcome.

Nice start, and I LOVE the straight 8! Which kit did you steal the inline 6 from? And what are you planning to use for the intake side?

Thanks Yoni the 6 came from one of the early Revell 1953 Corvette repops i used it because i have another one of these kits in my stash and the rest of this kit is missing in action. the intake manifold will come from the 1969 firebird kit the one with both the 6 and V8 option i will modify the 6 to fit and the carb will be a 4 barrel Holley style. I think everybody should give a rat rod a try it's fun you get to use your imagination and it helps clean out your stash of spare parts, and anything goes.

Love the subject. The mods you've done look really good.
The engine looks to be resting on the ground - is that just for a photo shoot?

Thanks Scott, yes the engine is just setup so everyone can get an idea of how it will look, a new post coming in a few days as the engine has many new parts to it.

Very cool subject Robert. The streched engine look great. Must bee quite difficult to get the two parts aligned. Looks as if you pulled it of perfectly.

Thanks Jesper, yes the engine stretch did take a while to get it lined up but i am happy with the results and remember it's a rat rod so it need not be perfect just believable new pics to come soon of the engine i did lots of work to it.

I agree, but an engine must look perfect, otherwise it won't work. And even a rat rod needs to move.

Next up i need to work on the bed and than the interior. Any and all comments welcome.

The weathering looks great Robert. Very realistic. The chair is a very nice detail. It certainly emphasizes the rat rod theme.

I don't know how I missed the updates on this, but I did.

The car looks great, Robert. I still think the straight-8 with the turbo is a bit of creative genius, and I love the exhaust. Just...cool. Nice work on the grooved pulleys, and the other engine bits too.

The bed wood, interior details (the chair!) and the paint are really pulling this one together.

Concerning your paint/rust job....

I wanna pick at it. Is that any indication of the realism you've captured? I wanna pick the chips off!

If, though, it's that rusty, I think it should show more streaking.

Looks awesome, at any rate. I like it.

Looking good. I love the distressed look.
Don't forget to warp the door seam lines over the top and down the inside of the cockpit. One other minor thing (a bit of a personal preference too) I'd like to see a bit more scuff on the sidewalls.

Thanks Scott, yes the seams on the door tops still need to be added but first i need to do something with the interior door panels maybe one will have pleats and the other will have a few cutouts to show the structure of the door still thinking on that one. I have to be careful on the interior because it is an open cockpit.

I like the bed too. The floor is perfectly delapitated. The warped boards with the peek-a-boo through to the ground is a good touch.
What did you use? It looks like Starbuck's stir-stix. (I've used that medium myself )

Is it all just dryfitted? I hope so, since you plan on gussying up the driver's bucket. Good luck with that, can't wait to see.

Thanks Murph, the bed boards are already glued down i used scraps of bass wood from one of my wooden ship models. Wait till you see what i have planned for the bed, both the battery and gas tank will go in there, the interior will get a large dice for the shifter nob painted red with white dots and i think the passenger seat will be just a wooden crate with rope seat belts, this has to be the ugliest car i have ever seen but it has attitude.

It's time for an update on the rat, did some work to the interior added the shifter and passenger seat still need seat belts, the battery and fuel tank are in the bed and will need to be weathered, added plug wires and some more weathering to the engine several other things were done i will let you pick them out for your self after all that's half the fun. The next update should be on the finished model.

and passenger seat still need seat belts,

Seat belts in a Rat Rod?
In Belgium, when your car is an oldtimer you don't need any seat belts.
Personal, I find it not necessary.
