More info on Scalemates and SpotModel .
It will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the Trumpeter version which has been around for about 10 years now.
Cheers, D

Well, I hope it's better than that lump o plastic Trumpeter did...hahaha...! It was not too bad, but way too many inaccuracies and fit issues. Besides, the only true GT40 is the Gulf version...nudge, nudge, wink, wink...!

It will be great if they release it with the #2 markings as well, or actually any of the others that participated in the '66 race, some great colour schemes in that lot.

D,
You just beat me to posting this pending release from Meng as the Spot news letter just arrived.
I just couldn't believe my eyes. A brand new mold of the iconic Ford GT40 Mk II driven by Denny Hulme and Ken Miles for Shelby American at the 1966 LeMans. No specific info as to the amount or type of detail, but I'm betting it's state of the art.
I've never built a 1/12 scale car, so this will be my 1st.
Just great timing as the Movie Ford vs Ferrari hits the theaters tomorrow, and I'll be at one of the showings for sure. I saw Grand Prix 6 times in 4 weeks, and another "million" times on tv and cable. So you can bet that I'll break my record for sure.
I'm sure that the After Market guys will have a field day with this.
Not sure what the going price will be, but honestly I just don't care. I'm getting at least one.
Joel

Read somewhere(Taken, from Meng's facebook page) that the model is pre-painted, in the Ken Miles paint scheme and is a snap-fit type model.

I saw that today as well, from the MENG Facebook page.
Disappointing. A quickly pushed through toy to capitalize on the movie release. Hopefully they follow through with the full build kit.
