Just making it under the wire This is a 1/25th Polar Lights kit, a 1969 Mustang Mach I. The driver, "Gaspar "Gas" Ronda" a well recognized veteran on the drag racing scene. The kit comes molded in white, chrome, clear with hard rubber tires.
It did go togather well, but there was a ton of flash to clean and sand. I also thought the body was a bit to thick.
The body and frame was painted with Boyds Orange Sun Burst. The inside was painted flat black and the tin and and a few other parts were painted with MM's aluminum metalizer. I plumbed the fuel line from the front gas tanks to fuel pump, and up to enjection hat. I drilled out distributor and installed the blue aftermarket wires.
Once the orange paint was dry, I went onto polishing it with 3M's rubbing compound to get the paint smooth. I then (lightly)rubbed it down with rubbing alcohol, sprayed Future floor wax and layed on decals. I did not spray on the floor wax when the decals were on, on real race cars the decals are not glossy.
Thank you and enjoy,
Joe
