OK here goes with my first proper build log.

Several people have asked to see my build after seeing the Mustang so a bit late to see the start but here is what we have.
Revell Mustang 350R complete
AMT 'Boss Hog' cop car conversion in progress
Revell Kenworth W900 conversion to guntruck
Itateri road sections, three kits

Now lets get some photo's up and I list figures and detail parts as we go.

Ok this is the cop car interior the rear wheel arches still need to be filled a rear facing gunner seat built and drivers armour added along with some detail.

And here is the body painted before the extra's including armour get
added.

Now the truck, the sleeper is being made into a storage area and also gun platform the whole front including cab will be armoured and a cow catcher Wild West loco style will be build. the floor for the gun deck has been started.

Some of the items being used, grey resin from Dark World Creation (DWC) and cream resin from Kit Form Services (KFS)

Ammo boxes and 50 gallon drums

Weapons included with the cop car (background use) plus a pair of 20mm Hispano cannons, teeth for the truck!

PSP planking and camo net, see the mustang?

Figures from left to right.
Ginger (DWC) finished
Krystal (DWC) finished
Sasha (industria mechanika) 99% finished - the engineer of the team.
Barrio guy (IM) base coat
Zombie hunter (knight models) assembled
Mad Maddie (Alambic Miniature) assembled

I still have stuff to get, like heavy duty off road tires for the truck, a winch boxes food and a few more figures although I may be making my own.

I'm open to advice and encouragement, thanks for looking in.

Dude this is looking good! Don't know if you used the film 'death race' for ideas for your mustang but there is a car very much like it in the film. I like the crisp painting on your figures so far, will be following with interest.

Hi Alex,

The Mustang has been built using the DWC conversion kit plus a few additions of my own like the 'tombstone' armour at the back which yes I did take from the film Death Race. The idea for the truck also started out as a build of the one from death race but the idea of the whole build with trailer size wise just would be too big for me, so I've down sized the truck but I will be keeping some elements of the truck like the cow catcher and look of the armour.

Ok just a picture of the truck I'm using as an idea, so you can get a feel for the armour and shape. I will be taking it to the next level with weapons as you will have seen already.

Wow, an expensive diorama you are going to have :-)

I'm very interested in that build - post apocalytic dioramas are my special interest, too.

There is another figure you might be interested, too:
(She's from Taurus miniatures and the name is "Dove")

(it's a zombie-hunter diorama)
That girl comes with a sharp-shooter rifle that I replaced with an axe....
------------------------
What I would like to know:
How's the quality of the DWC resine parts?
I would be interested in the figures and accessory packs, but the pricetag is quite high - So I don't want to buy a pig in a poke...

thanks in advance and best regards
Thomas

P.S. - of course I will follow this build

Hi Thomas and welcome to my build. I have seen the figure of Dove but didn't go for her at the time I may change my mind later - plenty of time yet.

For the DWC figure check out my review Here over on HF

Now for some feed back, I'm looking for a name for the gun truck like those of Vietnam fame so as they say suggestions on a post card.

Night shifts are almost over so I'll get some bench time in this week

Ok only a small update as work is keeping me busy at the moment.

First we have some extra parts that I was waiting for

Thats heavy duty tires, a winch, tools and shackles, cab detail, tiger skin decal for the seats and a pack called cab junk which includes a sleeping dog, gas bottle and stove, cloths, cool box etc

Now with a break in the weather I was able to prime and then base coat the chassis and also do the same to 'Mad Maddie'. Maddie may look a bit odd but the paint I'm using is the base for painting black, I've had the set ofr some time and thought I'd give it a go.

I must admit I haven't been interested in Apocalypse-era ideas before, but then my step-daughter had a "Zombie" film/series marathon a while ago and I got hooked!! I've been thinking of trying to do the bus from the movie "The book of Eli".

I love your idea and am enjoying your build!!

OK a very quick update until next week when I'll have some time to myself.

The Hispano cannons are out and in come two:

Also picked up a hex punch and dia set so I can make my own bolt heads for the armour.

Ok a small update.

Yesterday I added some decking to the gun truck tub floor, a few tweaks to the truck cab which is almost ready for some primer and then picked up two more 'Dillion' guns which were waiting for me at the post office.

These have been started with some frame work to mount on the bonnet of the cop car. You can see the holes that I've cut into the bonnet for the ammo belts.

Moving back to the truck, the front hubs are now mounted and clean up of the wheels and tires is under way although I'm going to need to shim the rears as the tires are 1/24 and the inside wheels are 1/25

Stirring sticks form popular coffee outlets make good timber decking

Oh I've decided to shed some light on this build and have ordered some LED's for the truck and cop car.

Rick thanks for your suggestions, they got my mind working and I've come up with 'No Tomorrow' now just need to play with the layout and font, then find some masks, I wonder who does those? (Mal)

Very little progress this week as I'm back on day shift, but I'll be doing some little bits here and there this weekend while I wait for the lights. Then I think I'll try and concentrate on the cop car and get it out of the way to clear some space for the truck.

OK just a very quick update, the LED's arrived yesterday so this weekend once I've done the lights on my own car I'll play around with the lights for the cop car.

OK no photos but I have added armour around the drivers seat in the cop car and also added the lights into the light bar which required me removing it all, looks good but being that they flash alternately I can't get a photo to do it justice.

Did some work on the 'dillion' gun mount and also sorted out space for the 'dillion' gun magazines where the passenger seat used to be.

Rear lights have been drilled out ready for wiring up.

'Mal' got a flesh base coat while Mad Maddie got the first high lights to her black clothes.

I'll get some photos up later in the week, but no more progress this week due to new work shift pattern, 3 days, one off, 3 nights, that's 12 hour by the way, but next week I'll have some time

OK a bit of progress today, Maddie has been finished although in the photo below she still requires the eyes finishing these were done just after I took the photo. Front armour plate has been done for the cop car and work on the windscreen shield and Dillion guns continues, also some progress on the rear .50cal with the start on an armour shield.

The black paint is just a base coat and will be sprayed once the weather improves.

Photos taken with my iPod let me know if you would lime better ones using my dslr camera.

OK got a little bit more done yesterday. Built up some armour over the bonnet both 'Dillion' guns are now in position just a bit of research to find out where the connections should go on them. The .50cal mount is in place on the back and the gun itself is coming along nicely, a few interior parts have found their way in like the spare .50cal ammo box and both the 'Dillion' gun magazines. CB radio added to the dash.

Next step is to fit the seat belts and make a rear gunners seat and wait for some more lights to arrive then I can put the body on.

Once the body is on then I can start the external armour.

Well lets hear it for the girls
