D: I have tried the xtreme metal range before and I too am very impressed with them.

Could be fun to give an in-box review a try.

Joel: Believe me, I too wanted a Cuda(or a Challenger). To pricy these days though, so I went for a Mustang in stead. A '66 born with a 289, but now featuring a 302

Hi again

Wow! Some great hauls!

Last week I finally managed to get the kit I first tried to buy back in March, but it's been out of stock everywhere I've tried in the UK until now :

Would you believe it - the Lotus sold out again in my usual on-line store the same day they contacted me to say it was back in stock!

Luckily I found Hiroboy still had it, so I grabbed one quick - and added the Zero Paints set for good measure:

Needless to say, I'll post an in-box review soon.

All the best

Rowan,
It's always been a very popular kit that still continues to fly off the shelves. I also bought the Zero paint set several years ago when the kit 1st came out. I keep on checking those Zero bottles and there doesn't seem to be any evaporation to be concerned about.

I'm really looking forward to your build, and I'm promising myself that next year I will build both the Lotus 49 & 49B, and buy the 49C. Just to make life really interesting I'm going to be using a different paint scheme for each.

Nice buy Rowan.

I don't have a single 40's era US car , in my stash. There's only one way to fix that

Richard,
Now that's impressive for sure. Can't wait to see how your resin build goes. What will you be using for a Donor kit?

As for the Slixx decals, I have two sheets, and they both look great. Have heard only outstanding things about Slixx, so my confidence in using them, even my very old All Sport decals isn't an issue.

Hi Joel.
I have two donor kits, the "Hawaiian has the correct wheel base and the other one is "Soapay Sales" which has a shorter wheel base.
More research is required,I will dig through some photos to see which motor and frame would be the best for this build.
I would like to build the Hawaiian out of the box so I may have to pick up another one.
Still working on the duel Mustang builds and the Mini, will post photos soon.

Richard,
I'll be following your build very closely as I really want to see your resin body prep. like I said, I found out the hard way that resin is worlds different then injection molded plastic.

I've just looked back over the last couple of pages, not a Chevy to be seen since mid-August!

This place is going down hill fast, seriously. Fords, Mopars, Lotus, Honda, Opel (oops, my fault), jars of paint, even a Fire Hydrant!

I had more faith in you lot, but I see I need to take care of business myself.

Cheers, D

You've bought the lot mate, there is no more Chevy kit's out there, for the rest of us to buy.

Richard: Cool kit. Love the look of those wheels.

You might be right about the Tri-5 series, I had to go either side of these years to correct the imbalance here.

Plus a ring-in that I just liked the look of

D,
Your Chevy collection is starting to become world class. Just how many AMT/MPC kits are you still looking for?

Well here's one more for good measure! Very happy to pick this one up, I've been chasing it for a while now.

This might replace the '57 funny car as my Race theme Group Build entry.

Nice pickup Rowan, I haven't seen that one on the shelves here yet. Those French designs are certainly unique, I don't think I could even fit through that rear door, and the rear quarter-window looks like it was added in as an afterthought.

It will be a fun build for sure, I'm looking forward to your report on the plastic!

Rowan,
You've got a LHS that close to your work place? Now that's really impressive.

I have to admit that the Citroen 2CV is one of the weirdest looking cars I've seen. The engine hood to the body sculpting really is quite unusual. Needles to say I'm looking forward to following your build of it.

Guess who these pics are for??

Sorry D, very unhappily, the postman didn't bring me either of these, but sure wish he did. I thought of you when I saw each!

I couldn't think of a better place to post these. The first, I saw walking to the bus for home after work, the second is an image I copied from an industrial design website, Core77.

How about this??? two big four barrel carbs and a ram air...not bad - it says 396 SS on the body, but, I've learned those emblems can be purchased with or without a big block - for now, I'm hoping it has the BB Chevy. How about that clear coat?? I'm not sure if the convertible is authentic? Maybe one of you bowtie experts will know.

And then, if you prefer something more subtle, yet clearly convincing:

Of the two, I might go more out of my way to try and build the Camaro - You guys better with paint than me are probably more well suited for the convertible than me, lol....

Happy model building
Nick

Nick,
It's hard to believe that the convertible 396 is a daily driver. Without some form of air cleaner the rings will soon be shot and there goes the compression. Just ask me how I know

Nick, I'm a little concerned that you are thinking of me while you are walking the streets , but I really appreciate you dropping the images in here. Good inspiration shots are always welcome!

That 66 Chevelle is a smooth looking ride, and the paint job is stunning! I love the old tram in the background as well, we still have a few of these running around here in Melbourne!

The 69 Camaro is just a mean looking unit all round, I love it! It is pretty much the version I want to build with this kit -

Pure coincidence, I was at my local hardware big box store a couple of days back and found this gem sitting in the car park, another 1969 Bowtie diamond!

Some mighty fine Chevy's there. I had actually promised myself NOT to buy another kit, for a while. I have kits everywhere and until my daughter moves out of the house, I have no more space to store the kits in. BUT I do believe I will have to rethink that and buy a few non Chevy kit's, just to get the balance right

Hi again

Another very neat package arrived from Supermart USA the other day. As with the Ford Coupe which I bought from them, this was very well priced and trans-Atlantic delivery was speedy and free!

All the best
