Michael, I had to look, at Hiroboys website. Is it the pink pig? Those big scale MFH kits are absolutely spectacular.

Hi Jesper,
Pink Pig indeed. I got this one from Model Factory Hiro in Japan. I think they have most versions of the 25 917s made. But I think this one is sort of unique. Porsche called it Bertha, it certainly portly.

cheers

Michael,
Now that's super impressive. How about a in box review along with your thoughts on the build and what extra details you'll be adding.

Joel

Hi Joel,
I will try for a review ahead of the build. I would guess zero extras are required looking at the instructions but you never know.

cheers

HI Michael -

Wow - that looks like the 1/12 scale version! cool! Yes, the Fujimi conversion I worked on was part of my test/trials course to find out if I could handle an MFH kit. My interpretation of the engine conversion/addition to that build was certainly inspired by MFH kits - if you look closely at the throttle linkages (scratch built), fuel injector/s, lines, and distributors, you'll see they are modeled after the "real deal" in the MFH kit.

So, looking forward to seeing this come together

cheers
Nick

I always wondered how you got such great detail. You've let out your trade secret
I had the same thought about MFH which is why I was experimenting with the Tamiya McLaren in 1/12 scale.

cheers
Michael

Haha! Yes!, you figured it out, partially - I also look all over the internet for images of the real car and adapt as much as I can figure out how to. I have a 40 minute bus ride home each night, so if I don’t fall asleep, perfect time for some research.

That big McLaren of yours made me wonder too - the rivets are really nice!

Looking forward to seeing your build
Nick

Something different, yet another pick up from a local Facebook BSS page, to go with my Aussie Western Star.

I can even use the decals (after I trim off the "Bob Baird" and locality details) as we have a very good Texas Longhorn industry here in Australia now.

D,
That '57 Chevy Pro Stock really looks great. Sure would be more then perfect for the Race Car GB coming up next.

And that Tamdem hauler is just outrageous. Never saw anything like that on the roads.

Nick & Michael,
Like both of you, I use the Internet to do my research as Google keeps on coming up with new info and pictures every time I reword my search questions.

Richard, congratulations with the 40'th wedding anniversary.

That is quite a gift. Lot's of cool parts can be made on such a small lathe.

Congratulations on 40 years Richard, a great journey! Excellent addition to the arsenal there as well. Expect us all to start sending our custom milled parts orders very soon.

Richard,
That's one very impressive lath. I have complete confidence in your abilities to turn parts to the nth degree in detail and accuracy.

And of course congratulations to both you and your wife for making 40 years. As for my lovely wife and myself, we'll be celebrating our 4oth year this July 10th.

Thank you all for the congratulations!
I have a list of projects to build using the lathe.
One of my favorite rims and an easy to build are the Center Line make of rims:-

Before I get involved machining rims I have to get back to my car builds and submit for the strip etc group build rules.

HI Richard,

Nice lathe! but, even more cool is the possibility that you could machine your own Centerline racing wheels - they are among my all time favorites, specifically from the early 80's, wow! - next thing you'll be telling us you can make your own beadlocks! lol - It will be fun to see what you make with that machine

cheers

Richard,
Ain't that something else. Making your own wheels.

If you remember Richard from Aeroscale, he's a machinist like his father and grandfather. He makes a ton of model parts that are incredible. I'm sure you'll be doing amazing things as well. Maybe even help out some of us old guys.

The pencils will be interesting to try out.

Hi again

A nice early "Xmas present to me" arrived in the post today:

I've got a bit of a backlog of reviews to work on, so I won't promise to get 'round to this straight away, but I couldn't resist a quick peek in the box and the kit really looks pretty impressive.

All the best

It’s a Chevy, was there ever any doubt? 😎

Excellent pickup there Rowan, I look forward to your review and build on this one!

Nice addition David, and you are spot on, this kit has been the subject of some great work. It will be great to see your work on it. Are you going to build it for the Race Theme Group Build next year?

David: excellent choice. A bit more flash and ejectorpin marks, than we usually see, on Tamiya, but still a Great kit.
