Well I learned something today already, I had no idea that Platz were doing auto kits. I related them to small scale aircraft and similar.

I've a come out of the closet as a Porsche nut both track and street, as I've been drooling over the two new announced Porsche 935s. One being the 935 K3 and the other a 935 79 (although Spot has it listed as another K3 but the car/sponsor is the 935 79 that Paul Newman co-drove at LeMans).
Honestly, I'd love to do the full Hat Trick on this kit: Review, Build Blog, and Feature.

David,
1st the decision needs to be made who will get the kit.
As for a full review, by that I mean a decent history of the Porsche K3 which was a conversion by Kremer Co for privateers to race since Porsche didn't sell current factory cars. Then a step by step review of the kit as detailed as I can make with plenty of dry fitting.

A teaser as well, I have a couple of kits on their way from NZ that I have been hunting down for quite a while now, can't wait to get my hands on them as I've seen nothing but great reviews. Not the usual manufacturers, but definitely my taste in cars.
Well my parcel arrived, I'm very excited about getting my hands on these kits! I have seen them around a few times but a crazy prices, so when these 2 came up at quite reasonable prices I just couldn't resist.
This one was "opened box but sealed sprues" and came with a little bonus item for me!
This one was still factory sealed, but the box was a bit misshapen from storage.
Definitely a dual-build thread in the making here, and I will do a dual in-box review soon.

OMG, two of the most rare of rare Accurate Miniature race car kits. I've often thought of paying an insane price for a sealed kit.
I will be looking more then just forward to your reviews and duel build.
I have AM's 1/24 scale McLaren M8B that I'm slowly buying all the bits & pcs to replace the rubber castings in the kit for lines and connectors. This is my dream build, but I'm still not close to getting it on the bench.

Got my self a new air-brush compressor. My old, rather large and noisy, compressor works fine, but is only suitable for outdoor use. With my daughter moving out of the house, I get my old hobby room back, so a small, fairly silent, dedicated compressor is my first buy, for my man cave.

Great looking compressor, and with the tank there's no pulse issue. As for silent, just about every hobby compressor uses that motor or a similar one. I can attest to the difference as I tried to use my home compressor in my man cave, and my wife threatened my life after a few paint jobs with it. So hating painting in a hot or freezing cold garage, I bought a Iwata duel silent compressor, and you just can't here them in the next room.
Looking forward to seeing your 1st paint job using the new compressor.

Jesper, very nice upgrade there. I will be following you soon as my compressor (tankless) is pushing 15 years old now and it's time to retire it. I'm looking at a twin piston with a 3.5 litre tank at the moment which is not a lot more $$ than the single piston version.

I've heard only good things about the twin piston compressor. They're all designed and made by Sparmax. I've bought their single piston, duel valves for two air brushes that I always leave attached out of per laziness. All I can say is that it's super quiet, especially compared to my general shop compressor that can easily wake the dead.

Not a postman item today, but rather an "out-and-about" post. On a day trip for work to a regional Victorian town, found this old Chevy truck outside the bakery where we had lunch.
And this little shop right across the road.
A great little hole in the wall, tons of diecast collectibles and a small stock of styrene kits and modelling equipment, plus shoe repairs, key cutting, wallets, handbags and purses for sale. The owner is an accountant and runs this with his father as a neat little sideline.
I managed to restrain myself this time around (no Chevy kits
), but they had this kit at a heavily discounted price and I was sorely tempted.
I will be back that way in a month or so, if it is still there I will take it as a sign that it is meant to come home with me.

What a great little trip. Love the bakery truck and naturally the model shop. All are just about gone by me. Really miss the good old days of going to my local Squadron Shop. Online just isn't the same.

Well I did something rare and something unique this weekend.
Rare in that I bought a couple of car kits from the local hobby store, something I haven't done in a long while because of the outrageous mark ups here, but I hadn't seen this manufacturer available in NZ before.
Unique in that they were my first American cars, but I had to admit they pretty cool in strange sort of way. A couple of coupes.
I remember Gabriel doing a great job on one of these. And something altogether more modern

Two great finds of somewhat rare American iconic cars from days of yesteryear. The Chrysler 300-B was more of a well to do family's sports type car. Two door cars back in the 50's weren't really that popular. But the 1965 Cyclone was a car that turned just about every "Chick's" head, and was a favorite of the hot rod, & muscle car guys.

Great looking pair there Michael, love the 50's and 60's designs. I haven't built a Moebius kit yet, but from what I have seen they are very nice!
Now you just need to work our which Group Build they will fit into!

Well I've learned something today! I never knew that Revell did 1/48 car kits! They look nice Richard, great little additions, and that large-scale Merc should be a cool project.
Something a bit different for me today, a club member was clearing out some stash and this one caught my eye.
I will probably do a dual build with the Heller 1/24 170Va at some stage down the track.
And something(s) very different, as soon as I saw these I could envisage a "truck boneyard" scene with a couple of wrecks and a restored truck in civvy colour with the tray loaded with parts.
I just couldn't resist at the prices he wanted, so they came home with me as well.

Wow! Some great hauls!
I never knew those 1:48 kits existed either. They could look great alongside aircraft of the period. Pips Priller famously drove a BMW 327 during the war.
I really wish there was much more easy cross-scale tie-in between modelling genres. The rise of 1:35 (and I hate to say I bought the early kits when I was a kid - so
mea culpa!) really threw a humongous proverbial spanner in the works on that score - creating a divide between armour modellers that adopted the new scale, and figure and aircraft modellers that stuck to 54mm/1:32 that never needed to happen! It's been a bugbear ever since.
