Revell has been making model kits of all types since 1945 and has re-introduced the Kenworth W900 Class “8” heavy truck kit under a new line called the “Historic Series.” This kit has been done in several configurations, a heavy recovery truck, long haul truck with 64” sleeper, the Australian version with “cow catcher” bumper, and this current version that we will be looking at in this review. As Brian mention is his review, this snap kit is a great starting point for someone wanting to get into heavy trucks. or as a basis for customization.

I will add, that the tires are not very good. They are too skinny. Replacing them with AMT or the new Moebius tires really improves the look if the truck.

On the plus side, the Caterpillar 3406A engine that comes in the kit is very nice & well detailed for a snap kit. Some people even swap them into their glue kits. The instructions tell you to paint it tan. This is incorrect. Since this truck is a post 1976 Kenworth, the engine should be Caterpillar Yellow.

It should be mentioned that this is the Revell-Monogram W900 snap kit, and this kit has always been issued as a W900 with the AeroDyne sleeper. The W900 Wrecker, W900 with the 60" sleeper, and the highly inaccurate "Australian" T900 are Revell of Germany glue kits. (It should be mentioned that the T900 does build into a very nice US W900, though.)

Thanks for the reply.

The tires are the downside to the kit and the AM tires would make a big difference. The engine color is the C.A.T. yellow in the instruction booklet, so they must of updated this. Snap kit or not it's still a pretty impressive kit for the price.
