I can see the chrome on the headlight bezel! It's there!
That's an ambitious scratch project, and I'll watch that for sure!
thanks,
Sean H.

Keeping this group build in mind. I'm back from the hobby shop with the 1950 Oldsmobile. Lots of chrome, but no fins.
I had some learning experience with Bare Metal Foil on my '62 Chevy last week, so I'm ready for April (or was it May?) to start this one.
Cheers!

Sounds like a good pickup Sean, I'm looking forward to following your build after seeing your work in Chev vs Hemi 2015!

Folks, don't forget we have a "Postman" thread HERE on Automodeler and we all just looooove to see what is lurking in each other's stash!

Yeah, like I ever finish a group build...

And I've only finished 2 car models since 1968, only one of those was painted.

I'm less than half way finished with the Chevy vs. Hemi build. The Camaro is in white primer (I guess if I'd used red or gray i could call it done).

On the other hand I snagged a 57 Bel Air Snap kit at the thrift shop the other day, needs a Turquoise and Ivory paint job for sure.

And in a moment of rule bending, there's a '49 Ford V8 Coupe in the stash that's the same body style as my parent's '51 ride. But it might take 3 months alone to figure out how to paint it so that every time you touch it you get this blue-black residue on your fingers.....

Well there you have it, not even the paint wants to ride in a Ford!

To be fair, it wasn't the factory original paint. Apparently it was the 1952 Earl Schieb $99 special.

Not long now folks, time to raid the stash and drag out those finned-up and over-chromed ocean liners and make sure you have everything you need to get the job done!

I'm really looking forward to watching all of these builds coming together.

It's time I made up my mind. So far I had no doubt I would build Moebius' Hudson. Beautiful car, lots of chrome, but NO fins. Have to look at my stash and do some thinking.

I've seen the Hornet built up a couple of times, it is a really beautiful car and kit. Perhaps we should say "Big Chrome OR Big Fins, Big Style"

The Hudson Hornet would be perfect for the Group Build. You could even do "The Fabulous Hudson Hornet" if you wanted to, or maybe Doc from "Cars".

I tried to upload that Ribbon, but it's too big. There is a 2k limit, and the proposed ribbon is 2.5k. That's a bummer because I really liked it, too.

Hi Jim.

Have you reduced the ribbon to 50x18 pixels and converted it to GIF format?

It is a GIF format & it's already 50x20. Maybe it's the colors? Don't know.

Not long now folks.

I'd definitely say that qualifies as big fins & chrome! Is that a Cadillac? And there are two grills & a chrome steering wheel. Interesting.

Hi Jim. Yes, it is the '59 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Box photo is on page 1 of this thread. I've been reading over the instructions and examining the sprues, it looks to be a very nice kit.

Tremendous amount of chrome on in that kit. Chrome decals as well. Don't know how well they work compaired to BMF.

Have you decided on color scheme yet?

Hi Jesper. I'm thinking maybe a gloss black to really set off the chrome. I will google a few images of the car and kit builds and see if anything really calls out to me.

Cheers, D
