Started on the Hudson. What a super kit this is. Lots of great details. Only did a few assemblies, but so far very nice parts, little flash and excellent fitting.

Get ready folks, it's March 31 here in The Great Southern Land so I am one sleep away from 50's mania!
Everybody should dim their screen brightness or dig out their tinted goggles because it's gunna get SHINY!

Great, just great.. I'm 10,000 away from home and can't start anyway. Not to mention the ignominy of having 2 Chevys on the table and I have even started the Charger.....

I feel your pain Mark.

There is no pain, it's all in your mind! Just release all of those negative waves and rejoice in the glow of the acres of bright chrome coming up now.
Are we posting our builds here or starting a new thread?

Well D, it's your campaign, your call. There's 10 folks signed up. 3 or 4 might finish, 6 or 7 will post. I'd say continue this thread.

This one belongs to James B, not me. I'm just here to make sure that the Bowtie is properly represented. I agree though, we should all just keep posting here.

Yes, all builds should be posted within this thread. Just to keep them all in one place, so to speak. We only have a couple of guys participating, so I don't think it'll get too overwhelming. It's not like this is an Armorama build with 30 participants!

Why is it impossible for me to simply open the box and take a peek inside?
An hour or so later and I have assembled, puttied and sanded the engine (9 parts involved there), and cleaned up the intake manifold, water pump, fan and belt assembly parts.
All very nice so far, just a small amount of putty required between the engine block and cylinder heads. I used Tamiya Basic Grey putty and smoothed it off with a Q-Tip soaked in GP Lacquer Thinner so there isn't any sanding required. The detail on the fan is especially nice, brackets on the back and rivets on the front. Nice to know it's there even if it won't be really visible once it's all installed.

Damian you and I must be related!
Here are box photo's and photo's of the real Cadi that I will copy closely, except the rims unless I can find some on the web!
Photo's are from Barret Jackson web add.
This car sold in 2014 for $115,500
Like Damian I to started as soon as the box top was off!
Damian you will notice that the pump on the model is wrong and dose not have two cylinder heads also the chrome will have to come off!.
The air filter on mine will need to be chromed.
I have also built the running gear and ready to paint.

Excellent start Richard, and a beautiful car to base your build on. I noticed a couple of discrepancies in the engine bay but I suppose there were modifications made throughout the life of each car. Your photos show the tail light "bullets" on the fin as being chrome plated, my photo shows them as being painted in the body colour. Since this is all about the chrome I will be leaving mine chrome plated.

Looking good gentlemen.
Richard: Hope you can find the right wire wheels, for the 59'er. They look awesome for that car.

I did some web searching and the pump(power steering) in the photo that I posted of the car in my build is correct but other cars have the pump and a twin cylinder head thing in front of it.

Well, here it is, Revell's 1/25 1957 Chey Bell Air. It's less of a stock 57 than a 'restored' version.
It's a thrift store find, missing the stickers. So I'll have to paint all the interior trim. I'm thinking of doing it in a traditional turquoise and ivory finish. Online photos suggest that the interior metal was the same color as the body. I've seen photos with white upholstery with turquoise accents. Another photo showed turquoise upholstery with gray / black trim. I'm thinking of the white with turquoise.

'57 Chev, excellent choice Mark! I really like the turquoise/white scheme as well, looking forward to this one coming together.

The turquoise & white will look really nice, Mark. Are you going to try to make it factory stock or leave it "restored"?

The only real signs that it's been restored are the wheels and tires. They're clearly not stock. Cast and chromed wheels and narrow tires do not scream 50's. I don't have a stash of old wheels or white wall tires, so I'm kinda stuck with the kit parts. I can also mount the wheels at stock or lowered positions. I'm sort of leaning towards stock and hoping most folks don't notice the out of era rolling gear.
