Last campaign for "trucks" ended back in 2011. How about another?

Don't remember that one. What was theme? Only civilian trucks; pickups, tractor trailers, SUVs, farm trucks? I've got a bunch of large and small scale military trucks, not armored or gunned, would they qualify?

These were the Group Build Guidelines of the "Keep on Truckin'!" Group Build that I ran back in 2008:

Operational Overview
The trucking industry is the back bone of the transportation world. If you got it, a truck brought it! This campaign is to honor the men & women of the trucking industry from all over the world.

The Rules and Regs
1. Civilian vehicles only. No military vehicles will be allowed unless they are in civilian use
2. Must be a "work truck" of some variety IE: Hauler, Wrecker, Etc.
3. Trucks may be OOB, highly modified, tricked out, or whatever suits your fancy.
4 All makes & models of vehicles are allowed.
5. Trailers & loads are encouraged, but not required.
6. All model manufactures & after market manufacturers are allowed.
7. Dioramas are encouraged, but not required.
8. Have fun!

Contest Element
Build as many trucks as you like. Kits begun prior to the start date are allowed. All participants will be awarded a campaign ribbon upon successful completion of the campaign; one ribbon per participant. Kits finished after the end date might not be considered for the campaign ribbon

The last one was the "Over the Road" Group Build in 2011. Here are those rules:

Operational Overview
OTR - "Over the Road" campaign. If it travels on the roads, carrying a load, it's in. Straight trucks, moving vans long and short, dumps, mixers, flats, tractors, trailers, a combo of both - USA or Euro makes and models are all accepted.
This is a good time to button up that unfinished project as well, but try and toss in a whole build if you can too, with build pics for everyone to see the ongoing process and how you did it. Other's may learn something new from your build pics or vise versa.

The Rules and Regs
Any scale you like. The build rules are that it be either a lone tractor, tractor and trailer, stand alone trailer, or straight truck as in cement mixer/box van/stake bed/dump. Let's have everyone toss in build pics along the way too, so we can see the progress and process used. Time to complete the build is 1 year.

Contest Element
All participants will be awarded a ribbon for successful completion of this Group Build. Multiple builds are encouraged but only one ribbon per participant will be awarded

I don't know what Mike is planning, but it'll be interesting.

Would be perfect excuse to try something new, so I'm in if this becomes a campaign.

I think the campaign would need to be Civilian Trucks.

Here's the proposed rules (heavily copied from Keep on Truckin's rules):

The Rules and Regs

1. Civilian TRUCKS only. No military trucks unless they are clearly in "every day" civilian use.
2. Must have two or more axles.
3. Trucks may be OOB, highly modified, or tricked out.
4. All makes & models of trucks are allowed.
5. Trailers & loads are optional.
6. Scales from 1/72 up to 1/6 allowed.
7. Build pictures have to be posted showing progress - minimum of four pictures of the build and two for the gallery.

So, basically from an 18-wheeler tractor down to a little pickup and everything in between. If you have something larger than an 18-wheeler tractor, by all means, build it for the campaign.

Thoughts?

I'm in - just bought a WWII era French Renault 3.5 ton truck. Planning on doing a post war civi version using some left over decals from the new MiniArt L1500 civilian cargo truck.

When do we start?

I'm thinkin' we have 8 potential enlistees at the moment. Need two more to submit.

Time frame? I'd like it to start with the new year and go 9-12 months.

Thoughts?

That sounds like a good plan. You only need 5 people on AutoModeler to make a Group Build due to the low numbers that are over here. It's 10 on the more "popular" boards.

I know we need a certain minimum number of participants but would like to start on the Renault ASAP.

I personally have 5 or 6 campaigns going myself right now (Armorama and Aeroscale), so I'd like to see a start at the beginning of the year and go for 9-12 months. Quick builds or builders would have no problems with the time, and for the more complex builds this would offer, I believe, enough time.

Who is the GB admin for Automodeler?

Hey, I snagged this on a recent visit to a thrift store. Might it work for this build??

It's mostly metal, pre-finished and a bit started, mostly the engine?

Oh, I have missed this thread!

Count me in with a 1/25 18 wheeler (nor sure if I'm gonna make the trailer, but the tractor is ear-marked for build in 2018).

Any update on the time frame?

Mark, I think that Testor's kit would be fine.

No updates yet Gabriel. Trying to find out who is the campaign admin. However, I'll submit the request this weekend - I'm sure "someone" will respond.

I will be building my AMT Kenworth K-123 Cabover. I've just ordered a set of polished aluminum fenders and an extended resin frame for this beastie.

Looking forward to this - no more new builds on the bench until this Group Build.
