Gladhands attached. I've attempted to replicate a bungee cord holding the lines. Yeah, it'll look better once attached to a trailer.

I really don't know what else to do to it. Decals will follow once a trailer is built.

It looks good, Mike! I don't think you need to do much else Congratulations on your nearly finished build. Meanwhile, I'm still struggling with bits, bobs and over-complicated color scheme (I begged for that last one):

UPDATE
The rim surrounding the radiator chromed with BMF. I've seen on the original trucks that some have chrome, some others have a sort of black border, others have none... I choose chrome just to make my life more miserable. Initially I chromed the headlights buckets too, but I didn't like the sight of it an decided to paint the lenses with Alclad chrome from inside (yet to be done)...

The air tanks detailed and super-glued in place and some decals from the spares added to the engine and to the tanks (not very well visible in the picture):

The engine is not glued in place yet, just test fitted to make an idea how I'm going to run the plumbing / wiring... The fit is not perfect and actually only one engine mount will work. I may need to rise the opposite one with some 1 1/2mm for the engine to seat flat. I didn't try yet with the cab over and I can have another "surprise" there - the cab it's still drying in the spray booth...

More updates soon!

Cheers!

Nice clean build Mike

Getting there Gabriel

Getting the decals on a bit of work getting them to go over the details but it's slowly getting there.

Cheers Rob.

Mike, your build looks great and I like what you did with the lines.
Gabriel, I can't see your pictures either but it reads like your making progress.
Rob, good job on the decals, something I was to afraid to do because I thought I would never get them settled down.

On my Peterbilt, the truck is almost complete, one major detail to finish, the stacks.
I was tempted just to go with the kit ones but they looked pretty ordinary so I thought I would try and build a pair.
Here's the work in progress.

Some refining and a bit of detail to add and I'll offer them up for a final verdict.

cheers

Rob, "Made in USA," right! Looking good!

Michael, so much better with the scratch build stack. I'm running out of time with my build, but it is certainly a most valuable lesson for the future.

Mike Thanks again for the head-up. I't annoying how Google photo works seemingly at random. Unfortunately on my screen the pictures always show and I can't be sure... However, I re-linked the pictures in the previous post and I hope the following ones will show without trouble

UPDATE

I finished the trim on the cab and you can see here (I hope) a mock up of the cab and hood. Please note how crazy that orange behaves: on the shaded areas looks almost red, on the exposed areas looks yellow! It's the same color allover, believe it or not:

I ended up painting the lights lenses from inside with Alclad chrome. It's nos as good as I hoped for, but is much better than over-chromed blobs provided by the kit:

I did also some scratch on the exhaust heat shield but no picture taken yet...

More updates soon!
Cheers!

So, I was sitting at my bench pondering my build. I realized it's not "done" yet. Took a while to figure out what it was missing (this is my first 18-wheeler so I'm quite the noob). Detail stuff! Door handles. Gaskets on the cab exterior. Air drain "petcocks" for the air tanks. Air valves for the tires. Little stuff that'll bring it up one more level (above some fun scratch building and aftermarket exterior goodies).

Anyhow, no "It's complete" pics....yet.

HaHa! Nice catch Mike

I have stopped fighting with the decals on one side and started with the other.

I have also managed to lose the oil tank for the side of the cab!

Cheers Rob.

Gabriel, that Mack and its paint scheme is looking awesome!
Mike, the door handles would certainly help

I finished the stacks. It's just a copy of the AMT one. Despite the quality of the kit plastic I think from the photos I have seen the kit is quite accurate.

But what do they look like under some paint?

Well meet "Big Pete". He's finished and ready to roll.

Thanks Mike for getting this campaign rolling and Jim for some expert advice and everybody who gave me encouragement to convert this 70's classic re-pop into, well a 70's truck!

If there a campaign gallery for this somewhere then I'll post photos in it.

cheers

Thanks, Michael and congrats for finishing the campaign!

Your "Pete" looks very classy - that's why I chose to inspire my chassis / tanks painting scheme from yours

Now my build is going a little sideways, because I just received a Tamiya 1/12 motorcycle fore review from Automodeler, and that one shall have priority. I'm trying to parallel my builds the best I can, but my Mack it was already coming fearsome slow...

I still managed to put a few parts together:

All my painting cannot deal with the clunky detail and huge pin marks. However, the cabin "tub" is very deep and the detail inside will be hard to see...

Hopefully I will close the cab with windows and all one of the following days - I certainly hope so!

Cheers!

Thanks guys for the kind comments.
Gabriel, don't let the shiny new kit distract you! Always difficult I know when the build is not going as planned. The Mack is looking good. Just about there.

cheers

Hi, guys!

Thanks, KSO! After all my painting effort pays off. The truth is that the detail on the seats is the only detail I like on this kit

Michael, thank you so much! Not only the new shiny kit is more attractive but also it's sent for review and I won't like to delay it. I'm not worried though: the main Mack sub-assemblies are all done - and I'm working out the small fiddly details right now.

Cheers!

Yes, those seats look nice!

Rob, good work on those large decals. Looks like they layed down fine.

I'm starting to glue stuff together and detail paint a few things on the ISUZU reefer Dekotora.

Hi, guys!

Since this build didn't go as fast as I wanted to and I have a setback on the other build (Ducati Panigale) too, and only a few days until the MTO campaign starts, I took the "historical" decision to abandon any plans of extra work on this model (no more plumbing, no more electric wires... there are still a couple items that need to be scratch built though). I am still determined to finish it, but in lesser level of detail.

UPDATE
Oil wash applied on the engine. I don't want a dirty engine, just a minimally worn one, so most of the washes will be wiped out once they're dry:

Once the plumbing problem "resolved", the engine and the wheels are ready to join the assembly, as well as the radiator which are going to be installed soon.

Cheers!

I'm looking forward to seeing that one completed.

My computer video card fried a couple weeks ago so I haven't been active here but I've been making progress on the Dekotora reefer.

Pictures later this week.

Gabriel, that engine's Poppin'!
