WOW!!

Even I'd by a Bug with that color and exterior package. Your build came out absolutely perfect.

D,
Just great to have you back "in the saddle again". We've all missed you.

I'm just posted a few pictures per update here, with the full update in the open Car forum to help draw more interest to our Auto site. I even got Rowan to commit to building the Airfix 1/32 MGB!!

Just an idea for the ribbon, it should have any kind of Porsche on it. After all, it's a Porsche campaign.

Thanks, Joel! Believe me, it's some way short of perfect but I have to say I'm content with the result, especially because was never intended to be "the one", but just a mere lab rat for new techniques. The real Porsche paid the bills and the ugly bug won! Life!

D, please check if we can do with this one: GIF 20x50px:

Gabriel,
The only thing that matters is which one crossed the finish line 1st, and it was the Bug. A little stretch of the rules, and you've got yourself a winner.

I really like your ribbon as it "screams" Porsche.

I was wondering if the silhouette of 911 is iconic enough to unclutter the badge by removing the lettering and to replace it with a numeral, leaving the door open for a future campaign.

???

Hi Gabriel.

I can't see your first ribbon for some reason, but the 2 variants above look great. I think the 911 silhouette is iconic enough to clearly identify the Group Build. Perhaps a "70th' on there to recognise the 70th anniversary of Porsche in 2018?

Anyway, lets put it to the group and get consensus.

Cheers, D

Damian, I can't tell you why the first badge doesn't display. it is in the same shared album with the last two and I follow the same procedures. I have noticed, however, that both Automodeler forum and Photo Google are running very sluggishly to my end. Maybe you just need to refresh the browser and wait for Google Photo to load (?)

However, here are two more badges tweaked by your excellent suggestion:

If would be to cast a vote, I'll choose the last one.

Sorry, Joel, I made the things complicated again - there are now three orange silhouettes. Perhaps you meant the one with "1", but you haven't seen yet the last two

No more confusion - I promise!

I already voted for the Orange silhouette, but now there's 2 of them, so I'm modifying vote for the 2nd one.

Things have gone a bit quiet in here folks, what's happening with all of the Porsche builds?

I have created the Group Build Gallery now.

Damian,

I have a full build thread in the main Car section but always put a post here with two pictures. Looks like I plain forgot to do it this time. Will get right on it.

I've posted not one but two updates in my full build thread in the main Car forum for my Porsche 956 build, but I just plain forgot to post it here as well. So please accept my apologies.

the 1st post was on the priming of the body shells.

And the 2nd update was on the two tone color scheme on the shell.

So if you haven't stopped by my build thread lately, take a look as there is complete information on my priming and painting.

I just posted my newest update in my Porsche 956 build in the main car section. This time it's all about decaling.

Here's a sample of the decaled 956.

Looking great, Joel, and sort of pain me to see you're running such a majestic car with empty stands

Keep at it!

Sorry guys, but I forgot to let you know that I posted a new update over the weekend on the Porsche 956. Well, I've got another one that I'm posting in a few. Here's a sample to wet your appetite.
The updates are in my build thread in the car forum.

Well guys, I've made my final update post in my build blog in the car forum, as the Porsche 956 has finally crossed the finish line.

I invite all of you when you have a chance to view the full set up pictures located here:

https://automodeler.kitmaker.net/forums/273296&ord=&page=6

And here's a few pictures to give you an idea of what the finished build looks like.

Joel

Beautiful build first across the line for this Group Build. You've set a great standard for the rest of us to aim at Joel, well done mate.

Great idea, lots of subject matter available. I don't have any in the stash, but who knows what might happen over the next 6 months ??

That was back in June 2018, and quite prophetic wasn't it?
As I said in the "postman" thread, what kind of a Site Administrator and Group Build Leader would I be if I didn't participate? I patiently waited until something turned up in my regular Facebook BSS browsing, and here we are -

So, time to do some research as what I know about Porsche could be written in crayon on the back of a postage stamp

Let's do what we can to get this Group Build running a bit harder, some high-octane juice perhaps, or just a straight up Nitrous injection?

I must qualify that statement, you are currently sharing honours with Michael (Cosimodo) as he was first to complete his build, but hasn't loaded images to the GALLERY just yet. I have sent him a PM reminder.

First things first, what's in this box of goodies?

Question to those more knowledgeable than I, are the chrome engine parts supposed to be chrome, or polished aluminium? Looking at some online images, methinks they be headed for a dip in the oven cleaner.

And before you can say "There's no ice for my bourbon!" the bench is a mess of cutting, sanding, gluing and clamping!

I made an executive decision. The chrome engine parts are actually quite dull and rough-cast compared to other chrome parts, so I am going to glue them up and pin-wash and Dullcote them and see how they look. They will be mostly buried under shrouds and other equipment.

Cheers, D
