I know through the years there have been some plastic kits made of the classic late sixties Chapparal road racers. I build the Monogram re-pop of one which is basically a modified slot car kit. Is anyone aware of other kits that were made? I'm more interested in full detail kits; wondering if one was ever made of the vacuum cleaner car; I think it was the 2J.

2J was never made in plastic. The only kits I know of were two done in 1/43 resin.

The 2C, 2D, 2E, & 2H were, I think, the only ones ever done in plastic.

Mike, do you recall who made those kits? I think my Monogram kit was the 2D.

Arii (and I think others) did the 2C. Monogram, Modelers & Fujimi did the 2D. IMC did the 2E with it being rereleased by Union. Otaki did the 2H in something like 1/28 scale.

Fisher Model & Pattern make the 2E & 2F in 1/24 resin.

The 1/43 2Js were done by Midlantic & ProLine. Other 1/43 Chaparrals have been done by MA & Marsh.

Do slot cars count? I bought the Cox #66 new in about 1965, still have it with only a few mods. Only slot I ever had. Wick

Mike,
Your knowledge is absolutely 1st rate.

Jim Hall's Chaparral series of Can Am and Endurance cars never received the kind of kit attention that the McLarens & Porsches did.

I've toyed with the idea of buying Fisher's 2E, but @ $135 for just a basic curb side kit, I just can't justify it.

Well, there is an IMC 2E on eBay right now for $60.

While on eBay, I also noticed for sale a 1/24 2G from Mituswa. That's one I'd never seen before.

Mike,
Thanks for the heads up. Will have to check it out.
