Gabriel, a real credit to your skills and persistence that you have built something recognisable from that starting point. It will be great to see that one progress further.

Charlie, excellent choice. I have the 53 'Vette in my "must get that out and finish it" pile as well. Great work on yours so far.

Here is where I see us at this point:

Iain - Lancer Evo Rally Car
Charlie - 1/25 AMT 53 Corvette
Jesper - 1/25 55 Nomad
Mark - 69 Z-28 Camaro
Michael - 1/35 Wespe Dodge 4x4 Command Car
Damian - 1/25 55 Nomad El Camino Conversion
Gabriel - 1/35 Wespe BMW 309 Staff Car

Carry on folks, we're off to a great start.

Cheers, D

Charlie, nice 'Vette indeed. It's on my "must have" list but the poor girl it's all the way to the bottom, unfortunately! Yours looks good so far and I guess you have extra incentives to finish that one!

Damian, every step in that build was a pain and it has become eventually a chronic pain which I couldn't stand anymore. Anyhow, after some two years of abandonment, maybe I will find enough strength to complete it (meanwhile I've lost the steering wheel too but hey! I have wheels bonanza now!)

My good Folks, the proposal for campaign was officially submitted and pending approval. Nice to have you all on board and I have to say that the campaign it looks already very colorful by just watching your choices. I feel like a kid in a toy store! I want every single one of them !

Cheers!

Thanks, Charlie! I will follow your Corvette with much interest. Are you going to stick with the red paint?

Yeah me thinks so. White is so boring.

I already sprayed it once, but it was the first thing I ever airbrushed. So once I got better, I gave it a windex bath and will try again. Currently testing different gloss coats on spoons so I don't end up coating it in Future™.

LOL Charlie, I've got the Revell '53 Corvette Roadster on my bench . But it's in deconstruct mode. It's second hand and the body was hand painted in a baby blue, they sanded a little bit of it out before they gave up. I've used Testors ELO with good effect to get the blue off, just seems to take multiple applications and you have to wait for the paint to pucker.

The instructions claim that Chevy only made 300 of them that year and were baffled by fiberglass technology. They had no idea how the ground the electrical system and they had to leave them all white because they didn't know how to paint fiberglass..

Same generation that built the bomb and wanted Nuclear powered Chryslers couldn't figure how to get pigment to stick to fiberglass.

That's very interesting information!

Charlie, not only the white is boring, but it is very difficult to work with and she's not photogenic at all!
No worries for accuracy though - here in the auto realm everything is possible because every car owner has its own ideas ! You can make it any hue of red your heart desires without triggering any questions.

However, the most stunning Corvette I ever seen was off-white and it was shared by Damian a while ago, but I cannot remember the manufacturing year nor where D. shared it on the forum: all I remember it was an early model, white, immaculate and unbelievable shiny!

Cheers!

Gabriel,
Actually I'll probably try to finish up one of my stalled trucks. Either the AMT Kenworth K100 or the Revell of Germany Kenworth W900. You think MPC kits are bad, try an AMT kit.

My Garage Queen 2021 entry:

After 3 treatments of Testors ELO, I've got most of the old blue paint off. Then I can get the mold lines cleaned off and get started the right way.

It's the same Revell 1/24 '53 Roadster that Damien is working on. Hope I do 1/4 as well. Wish me luck!

'Tis a thing of beauty Mark, will definitely take pride of place!

Jim, it will be great to see a big rig in the mix here!

I actually managed to get the airbrush out of cobwebs today, had a good couple of hour session after I gave it a service. Results will be posted shortly

Hah! Are all the same old ERTL molds. After my Mack DM600 I need a very long break from trucks. The one from Revell could be the winning horse in your stable. And yes, as Damian said already, a big rig will be a nice addition to GB. Looking forward for your choice.

Mark, you definitely need to clean and deepen those panels which were too shallow to start with. You have achieved a workable body at this stage - very well done, sir!
