I have plenty that will fill the bill on a Racing GB.

Glad you all liked the idea of the movie/TV GB as well. Several years ago we ran one like that in the Modelgeek section. I think that one was TV only though.

You don't have Bowtie Build listed
Seriously, outside of nameplate builds, you've got a fairly comprehensive list there.

And yes only a few builds per year helps. I think I have at least one build 'due' every month until September. That may be more than I can chew.

AGREE on the Chevys for the "Bow Tie Build"... Lotta great Chevrolets, out there...

Great Italian cars deserve a "PS";

HOW COME NO LAMBOS, may I ask..?

Duesenbergs...

My personal favorite "Duesy" is the 1935 SSJ... Only TWO were ever built; one for Gary Cooper, and one for Clark Gable...

Make of that what you will...

Rest assured when we do a Bow Tie GB, that I've got numerous racing Chevies already in the stash.

A Bow Tie GB? That'll give me an excuse to build my 1963 Corvette. Now I just need to find a driver's side mirror for it.

Hi, Jim!

Which scale is your '63 Corvette? I have a few extra 1967-model Corvettes in my inventory. (Wish I had a couple of REAL ONES!!!)

Outside mirrors on Corvette Stingrays, 1963-1967 inclusive, were identical.

Yes, a couple of real Corvettes would ne very nice. The one I'm building is 1/25. It's this kit:

I haven't put a Bowtie in the future Group Builds list because 99% of what I am doing is Chev and with the number of builds I have going I am verging on flooding the forums with it!

The Bowtie brand fits in with the "Big Three" theme that Andy proposed for the USA trio.

That being said, I am more than happy to add a focussed "Bowtie Beauties" theme to the list

D,
After the Ford GB, I thought that we agreed that it's the Track, Strip Road GB? So that would take us through July 2020. Are we looking past that now? If so I'd really love to have that Great Britton Themed build.

You are correct Joel, the Race theme is next up running April to September 2020, and we haven't gone any further out yet. I would love to do the Great Britain/UK/Union Jack theme as well. I was just talking about adding the Bowtie to the list of potentials for the future.

Ok folks, the Race theme Group Build enlistment page is open for business HERE .

Our next point of order is the "Garage Queens 2020" Group Build, and I'm sure we all have something to contribute there. Does anybody want to take the reins for that one, otherwise I'm happy to do it?

Beyond that, we are looking at the follow-on to the Race theme starting in October next year. Sounds like eons away, but we all know how quickly months pass us by. Joel has suggested a "Best of British" theme, and I'm happy to roll with that. Any other suggestions, any other takers for the Union Jack Auto Industry Tribute??

Any and all comments and thoughts most welcome.

D, I don't have a clue about running a campaign. But put me down for Garage Queens 2020, unless someone more qualified pipes up.

I'm good with Union Jack Auto Industry Tribute for the next build. I think I've got 2 or 3 old Airfix 1/32 car kits stashed away.

Mark,
Don't worry about a thing with being a GB leader. Damian and I will help whenever you have a question, which won't be often. You just have to post the rules you want to run the GB by, which is basically copying and or modifying from other GBs and Campaigns.

As an example I eliminated the need to post two finished pictures in the GB Gallery in favor of posting them in the GB build thread as more members will see your pictures.

You also need to either create your own ribbon or ask for suggestions. You'll get plenty.

A main function is just reading every post, and trying to keep everyone focused on finishing their Shelf Queen build.

Joel

D,
I just signed up for the Race Theme GB. For this one I'm looking for something a little different then my normal almost OOB build. Just could be a 1/12 scale build.

As far as the proposed British GB, how about opening it up to the entire British Commonwealth? Australia and New Zealand certainly a have a valid car manufactures. Early McLaren Can Am cars were built in NZ not Great Brittan.

Not a bad idea at all Joel, the Union Jack is part of the Commonwealth country flags, so it really would be a "Union Jack Tribute Group Build" then. There aren't many styrene kits of Aussie cars, but plenty of resin shells made locally which require donor kits to complete.

Either way, lots of time to discuss and fine tune the scope.

Mark, many thanks mate, you're hereby elected unopposed! There are only 2 weeks until the Garage Queens 2020 is due to start, it would be good to get a proposal lodged now so I can get the Group Build enlistment page up and running. Please let me know if you have any questions about submitting a proposal.

I have started the "Official Group Build" thread HERE so we can get some promotion and discussions underway.

It has been a couple of months since we had a look at the future Group Builds, time for a review!

We have 2 months left to run on the Blue Oval, the GQ20 is up and running nicely, and the "Strip, Track and Trail" will kick off at the start of April.

There seems to be some traction around the "Best of British" theme, so I will propose that we look to firm that up as the Group Build starting in October this year.

The idea that we should encompass and embrace those magnificent manufacturers from the Antipodes has a lot of merit, so the proposal would include any vehicles designed and manufactured in a Commonwealth nation.

Over to you guys. Thoughts, feedback, a volunteer to lead, let's see what we can do to grow this one!

D,
The next GB isn't even here as yet, and I'm already going to be changing my build from the Ebbro Lotus 49 and building the NuNu 935 K3 now.

I'm all in favor of the following GB's theme to be "The Best of The British". Although Porsche's aren't built in the British Isles, I think I can find a few race cars that would qualify, or even a street car that I really want to build.

I'll probably sit out the "Best of the British" GB as I have no British or commonwealth vehicles in the stash. Although, I have been wanting to build one of James Bond's cars. I know in the early books he had a battleship grey Bentley 4-1/2 Litre (1931, maybe), but his most iconic car is the silver grey 1964 Aston Martin DB5. I don't know what car the Daniel Craig James Bond drives, but I'm sure it's an Aston Martin, and I'm sure it's expensive!

I'll watch the "Best of the British" GB with interest as I am unfamiliar with British cars.

I picked this kit up a while back, and I have just received the Zero Paints "Silver Birch" to go with it, so I'm all set. This kit has also been released with the "005" treatment, all of the gadgets added in as extras, but mine is the simple kerbside version.

I think this is the only kit in my stash that qualifies here.

There is plenty of time between now and October Jim, who knows what might happen??

D, just gotta love those DB5's.

Jim, I'm sure that there's a decent selection of British auto kits both race and street car available.

I thought that rather then just British Isles, we were going to open it up to the entire commonwealth past and present?

You might want to keep that designed and manufactured line in there. I think a lot of big Fords and Chryslers were built (51%) in Canada to avoid US fuel economy standards. Because as everyone knows, import cars are more fuel efficient than US made cars
