Small photo update. Chassis, engine, exhaust, trans, t-case, suspension and driveshafts installed.
The Rancho shock decals were applied to look like they were the self adhesive stickers that come with them, no decal solvent, just a tiny bit of Decal set to make sure they stuck.
The fan is just slid in there since it still needs detail painting.
Back on the road again tomorrow afternoon.

The distributor cap and wiring looks a million times better then my usual one big hole as I'm not skilled enough to drill out a cap in these scales.
Your version of stick on decal for the shocks and the shocks themselves really looks the part, as does the rest of the chassis work. Back in my youth we use to call those Red Mufflers, Glass Packs as they just met the max allowed sound requirements, but the engine exhaust notes were truly music to our ears.
As for Ted's detail parts, I emailed them after visiting their site was was truly impressed with all that they carry. He's about the only USA detail site that has clear hollow fuel lines. I've exchanged emails with Ted about the proper sizes, and it's not all that cut and dry, so I'm buying several dia. sizes and a few of each, plus igniton wires, and even a few pre wired caps. Plus his prices are great.
Before Ted's I had to order from HSJ or Hiro Boy for these type of details. The shipping and led time were truly killers, hence, I even tried clear hollow fly fishing leaders, but they're way to stiff for my needs.

I think that the last time I have built a ship was in my pre-teen years, I'm pretty sure it was an aircraft carrier and the planes were shot off the deck with a BB gun. LOL

Thanks Joel, As to the Rancho decals, if I could have gotten a scale fingerprint under one, I would have. I never got one to install without a big greasy fingerprint staring back at me trapped under the clear of the decal.
Back in my youth, we called glass packs by their most common brand name, Cherry Bomb!. I only ever had them on one thing, a 1979 Bronco. Loved the way they sounded especially the pops when decelerating.
Glad to have helped with the Ted's items.
Heading to the airport soon to go to Houston for the rest of the week.

I totally forgot about the other term: Cherry Bombs. I do remember hearing it some, but Glass Packs is what I remember most. As for the popping when you get off the gas, I loved it, my friends loved it, but our parents sure didn't.

Update on my Ford GT - interior now complete! I had trouble taking decent pics of it, due to it all being so dark, and I couldn't find a close-up setting on my phone either. THe interior is nicely detailed, but the fit of many of the parts is quite vague and more than once I had to use superglue and brute force to coerce parts into shape to make them fit.
The engine and gearbox is a nice little unit and I was real happy with the washes and highlights I did to show off the detail, then I put it all together and it disappeared....
Dry fit of the bodywork over the top off the chassis - all seems to fit, just about but it's certainly no Tamiya "just click it into place" job
Aaaand a quick shot of just how much of the engine back can be seen when you've got the bodywork in place Ah well....
So now I'm waiting for the weather to clear (we've been battered by storms the last few weeks in the UK) so I can get outside and spray another coat of white primer on the body shell. I had to remove a few seam lines and fill some gaps after the first coat. Then its onto Zero paints for the first time

Neil, your GT is looking really nice. That chassis & engine are really detailed. It really is too bad you won't be able to see any of it once the body is on.

To combat this, you'll notice that in a fair amount of my builds, I leave the engine bay uncovered when possible. My Tamiya Rothmans Porsche 956 and even the Revell Roush JPS Mustang are that way.
One thing to be aware of is the body shell fit to the chassis. I have a friend that built this kit super detailed to the nth degree and had to actually make a filler plate for both sides under the doors as he couldn't get the body to fit flush. Just hope that the issue was him, so you won't face dealing with it as a last step.
Gotta stop raining sooner then later.

Thanks Joel. The bodywork does fit the chassis on mine, it just needs to be pushed down to be flush. As you can see however there is a big gap at the rear where the two body sections join. Like I said, not Tamiya push and click fit. My bigger worry is glueing everything together without damaging the paintwork. I'm thinking of using Tamiya extra thin liquid cement and glueing it down a section at a time - but lotsa work ahead before I have to worry about that

The problem with using Extra Thin as that as the body sections are pulled down as you're moving towards the other end, it gets harder and harder to get the glue into the joint without accidently touching the paint. I usually use CA carefully along the inner edge so there's no chance of any leaking out of the joint.
The other issue is just how much pressure do you need to close the openings? That can become a major issue in a hurry.

Put paint on the second Escort. Things didn't go as well as hoped. The pin stripe is a bit messy and for the first time I had some adhesion issues with the Gravity paint when sanding. A few flakes came off so I will touch those up. Still to face the challenging part of making the decals.

The blue coat sure looks like you put down an even coat. I see your issues with the pin stripe. Did you burnish down the tape even though you detacked it? With Gravity & Zero paints, you need to lay down a few tack coats to seal the tape edge, or the thinned paint will get under the tape. It's fixable, but will take some work which I'm sure you'll be successful at.
As far as some of the paint lifting while sanding, that's the 1st time I've heard of that. My issue is usually sanding through some of the high spots or even working one area to long while I'm rubbing out the color coat.

Wow! Things are certainly warming up this past week with some great progress reports!
Neil, the interior of your GT40 came up beautifully, and even though it is hidden away, the photos will always be there to show the work that has gone in to it. Looking forward to seeing that body with some colour on it now.
Michael, I think the pinstriping came out quite nicely, especially considering how fine the lines are! The only little blemish I can see is just above the left rear wheel arch. Once all of the sponsors decals go on the eye will be too distracted to even see such small things. It's coming along great!
Bill, wonderful to see some progress on the Blue Max! The tube frame and engine detailing are really nice. What paint did you use on the exhausts? They look dead flat! Let's see how thing are looking towards the end of March, perhaps a petition to the Group Build Leader for an extension might be in order then.

and I must say I love the Greased Lighting... now if you could only find a scale John Travolta for it... LOL..
Well this weekend I got to lay down some paint.. I don't do much gloss as I tend to work the military side. but I don't think I did to bad..
Here are some photos with the light shade down.. now to let it dry for a few days and do the darker green..
