'57 Chevy Bel-Air

Model is a '57 Chevy Bel-Air 1/25 scale by AMT Ertl. The model is out of the box with no extras. I painted the model with a red/brown undercoat, and once dry 2 coats of hairspray. I then sprayed with airbrush a coat of coral pink mixed from white/red and a touch of orange from Tamiya paints thinned with window cleaner. Once dry I used a stiff brush and a cotton bud dipped in warm water to rub away the paint in places to simulate rust showing through. I used Humbrol weathering powders mixed with water to add rust to the completed model. I added a couple of wheels I had spare to the model, 1 on the front seat, and 2 in the boot. I cut the rubber tyres on the car flat at the bottom to simulate punctures.

The base is wood with modelling paste (course) with sand added, and this was painted 1st green, then desert coat and then buff, again using Tamiya paints. I added grass tufts from a cut paint brush, these were dry brushed green. I added a tree, which is real wood, a small sign, again real wood and the same for the fence. These were painted and stained with AK filters.

A final dusting of buff was sprayed over the model to simulate a dusty car, including the windows and inside. Lastly a few small stones were placed on the base to finish the dio off. Time to complete this build was 2-3 weeks, this was broken down to 3-4 days per week and 2-4 hours per day.
