Hi Folks,
Got this kit on ebay cheap and thought-drifter. It comes with aero panels and a roll bar and racing seats. I have an Aoshima wing. This isn't going to be an all out type of thing. Just a clean build and a trick paint job.

And I thought I'd put this paint job on it

So, is it going to be paint or decal? Either way it'll be a cool look.

I'm going to paint it. First I'll mask the yellow, green and blue areas and paint the red. Then I'll paint the shadows on the red. Then mask the red and paint the other colors-adding highlights. Then mask the whole thing and paint the black.

Great! This is going to be 'smokin' the technique sounds solid. Can't wait to see it. What are you using for masking ? Self cut masking tape, special pin stripe tape?

Hi Scott,
The image is a scan-the pattern is drawn on the scane not the car body. I've reversed it for the other side and will cut the pattern from masking tape. Nice thing is I can cut as many patterns as I can print

What a shame. I have had the same problem with paints that aren't compatible.
The graphics looks good though.

That looks like lacquer over enamel. You have to be very careful on base coats when using lacquer.

I still have hopes that the project will turn out good, I just need to remind myself the goal is to always enjoy the process, improve when and where I can, but understand that if I only accept perfection, I will be detracting from the reason I build to be

Thanks Jesper,
Looking at photos of a friends Miata I noticed the door handles are chrome so a bit of bare Metal Foil was in order. I've also painted the softtop and hardtop.
