Hi, does anyone know if there is a plastic kit or diecast available of a late '50's Chevrolet Apache 2-ton version truck, or pick-up truck version?
The Apache has the dual round headlights on each side.
The scale I'm looking for is 1/32-1/35 and/or 1/24-1/25

edit update 6-Dec-08: Further research has determined that I'm looking for a '59 Chevy Apache PU

AFAIK, there is no plastic kit of any version the 1958-59 Chevy Apache in any scale.

The Modelhaus does make conversion kits for both a '58 and a '59 stock Apache pickup in 1:25. The conversions utilize a new cab, interior and hubcaps, and use an AMT '55 or '57 Chevy pickup kit to finish.

I have not been able to find any diecasts of the Apache, other than a Hot Wheels version.

Thanks for the very complete info, Yoni. I just wish that Modelhaus would include pictures with their parts listings.

Yes, the lack of pictures on the Modelhaus website is unfortunate, and I believe their print catalog is the same way.

I've seen the aforementioned '59 Chevy conversion kit in person, though, and it is a first-class piece.

65 FOOT!?

Thanks for the reply and info. Does the front end and cab look like the '58-'59 in the picture above?

I think Bob was talking about the Modelhaus cab conversion for the 1965 2 ton truck.

And the '64-'66 Chevys looked much different than the '58-'59s.

I was just making a joke about the 65'.

As far as the look, I thought that was the case. A conversion from a '58-'59 to a '65 may be out of my skill levell.
Thanks for the info Yoni.

Modelhaus castings are very good and very accurate, probably one of the best around. Some of the parts were improved versions taken from annual kits/promo models. Others have been very well mastered. In all my years, I've not ben disappointed with Modelhaus purchases. Its been a few years since I placed an order and have had the 65 Chevy 2-ton truck on my want list. It's a real gem.

I think most people ordering tend to know exactly what year/make/model they are looking for in the first place and wouldn't need a picture. Besides that the list is a little "old school" and in turn low cost to send out. The demand is probably good enough that they don't see a reason to change. Being a small operation, they might not even want more orders than they normally get, you never know. So if a 1958 Apache came with dual headlight "pods" and you order a 1958 Apache from the Modelhaus, that's what you should expect.

Thanks, MacTrucks. I finally emailed them this morning. I'll probably get a reply by Monday evening.
The list has '59 chevy truck cabs but doesn't say "Apache".

Just to clarify, the term "Apache" came into use for Chevy's 1958-59 1/2 ton pickups. If somebody is talking about a Chevrolet Apache, you can almost bet that they are referring to those model years. The Modelhaus conversion kit, even though it isn't listed as such, is an Apache; the base kit is AMT's 1955 or 1957 Chevy pickup (which is a 1/2 ton) and the Modelhaus cab comes with the correct front fender emblems.

Chevrolet also used the 3100, 3200 and 3600 designations on their 1/2 ton, 1/2 ton longbed and 3/4 ton pickups from 1955-1959. Starting in 1960, they switched to the C/K 10/20/30 nomenclature, which continued until 1999.

Thanks for that info. That is very helpful.
BTW, Modelhaus replied to me email that same Saturday morning. Basically confirming what you informed me about.
Now I just need to decide if I'll order in December or January....

Ok, since I didn't receive any model hobby related items for XMS, I was however given various sums of cash.

So, after setting aside the amount needed for the expenses incurred because of the holiday, I have some left for me.

I made an order for the 1959 Chevy Pickup Cab plated version yesterday. Thanks again for all the information and directions to the right direction. I'll post here again as soon as it arrives and then start a new build log thread when I start the build.

Wow, super high quality kit. Thanks again to all that helped with info and the ModelHaus tip.
