Saturday aftenoon I painted the Olds body. The color is Humbrols antique bronze. Looks a lot darker live, than in the pics. Will add a small amount of BMF and finish the body of with Future. Havent tried that before, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. If the weather allows it, the plan is to shoot the future coming weekend.

I haven't used Future for a final clear coat either, but it should be safe as far as not reacting with the Humbrol enamel.

Ahhhh! memories

. My best friend in high school had a '70 Cutlass 442 fastback that was gold. My first car was a '72 Cutlass Supreme notchback coupe. We had some good times in both cars.

I bet those black hood stripes will really pop on that sweet bronze finish!
Nice work, Jesper.

I only need to clear coat the body and do the final assembly. Unfortunately the weather is against me. I do all air brush/spray work outside and with temperatures below 0° painting outside is out of the question. The weather forecast promises slightly warmer weather coming weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully I can give it the clearcoat saturday.
It's qute annoying when you have something on your workbench, which only need a few things to finish and you can't do those few things because of the weather. Well it is winter, but come on, just a few hours of temperatures above 0° Is that to much to ask for.

I hear you. However it certainly does not get as cold as 0 here, I also paint outside only. By the time I get off work, it's already too dark so I also make the most progress on the weekends, if I don't have O.T.

I to feel your pain Jesper i won't even try to paint outside till it's at least 40 degrees, most of the time i paint enamel or acrylics in the house but when i have to use use Dupli color primer i have to spray it outside because the fumes are just toxic.

Here's two dry fit shots of my Olds. Well, it's still on hold, since the weather haven't been playing along.

you can actually brush on future with a soft brush and get the same effects as an airbrushed coat. I even got better cover with a brush than i did with my airbrush. And if you add a few drops of 70% isoproyl alcohol it will make it shine a lil more. I even added some simple green concentrate to it before and it came out as a wet look gloss coat. For both methods its 4-5 drops of alcohol or simple green to 10-12 parts future. Try it out first to see how you like it before you put it on that beautiful olds body.

I saw the Olds sitting in the background in a picture on your Austin thread, and I thought "I wonder if he finished that?" Almost, but not quite...
I hate when the weather gets in the way of my modeling.
The Olds looks good, though. Did you hand paint the tires or are they dry transfers?

now where is a drooling smiley when you need one

Absolutely gorgeous Jesper. Looks like it just came out of an overhaulin' episode (if you know what that means). The antique bronze from Humbrol is definately a nice color for this one.

Very well done and clean. The BMF looks well handled. Did you use this for the "442" as well?

Very nice, indeed! The 442 was always one of my favorites from that era - the Chevelle, 442, and the Wildcat. You've done the Olds proud!
David
I still have hopes that the project will turn out good, I just need to remind myself the goal is to always enjoy the process, improve when and where I can, but understand that if I only accept perfection, I will be detracting from the reason I build to be
