I am way behind schedule, so I have to work hard to catch up.

I decided to build an old Revell kit, my brother started some 30 years ago. He didn't get far, before he shelved the kit. Building a kit somebody else have started is definitely not easyer than starting a brand new one. A lot of parts have to be taken apart, lots of seamlines on already painted parts and lots of ugly paintwork. "Sorry bro, you're a great guy, but not a modelbuilder"

I have added a scoop to the hood and a luggage rack in the rear.
I have removed the rear seats and contemplate on building a woodenbench. The interior now has a TV.

Heres a few wip shots.

Jesper, that's gonna be a nice rat rod. Have you thought about chopping the top? Or how about leaving off the hood completely?

I am glad to see you with us Jesper i was starting to wonder. I like the TV idea and the wood bench sounds like a great way to go, don't worry to much about the time left if we have to we will push the date to about the 15th after all this is an informal build and the idea is to have fun not stress.

Excellent call on the Austin, Jesper. It's going to make an great rat rod/odd rod. And the tv is just too cool.

Looking forward to seeing more!

I have brush painted the body with Humbrols rust color. Will add liquid masking and add a top coat thursday. I have yet to decide which color to use.
Finished assembling the undercarriage. I will give it a little character with pigments.
I have made a small woodenbench, but not sure if I will use it though. I think I will finish up the rest of the interior, before making any final decision.
In my stash I found an odd engine. It's like half a V8 with a side mounted blower. Looks wird so it's perfect Will dechrome it tonight.

The rust paint on the body looks good considering you did it with a brush, i believe the engine you have is an early Pontiac 4 cylinder, that engine was made by Pontiac by chopping off half of a V8 engine, i think it's perfect for this build just needs a little dirt and oil. The wooden bench seat looks good also i would try to keep it but you might consider moving it a little forward.

I have painted the body Humbrol panzer grey. Prior to painting I added Humbrols liquid masking. When dry I removed the masking and there by chipped the paint.

I wanted a dark industrial look to the engine, so I painted it black and used graphite for metal effect, pigments for rust. The chassis is weathered with pigments as well. The rust do look more subtle without the flash though.

I like the paint/graphite effect on the engine--looks like real metal. I also like your work area--looks just like mine!

Jesper, your Austin is looking great. The body looks very nice but that engine is freakin' awsome. I'm gonna have to try that technique on some airplane engines in the future.

Here's an update on my RR build.
I have added robe instead of doors. I will paint the cotton string with diluted white glue and pigments. I will have to find a suitable object to hold down the string untill it's dry, to give it a natural sag. I have added Gaffa tape to hold the tail lights in place.
The wooden barrel wil be tied down with robe as well.
I'm not sure what to use for radiator. I have two options, the Ford radiator or a fuel tank from a T-34 tank. What do you guy's think?
I'm not sure of I should use the wooden bench. The bench looks ok, I think, but doesn't work that well with the TV. It's sits way to high. I have contemplated making a few pillows and having them lying on the floor instead of the bench. Making it possible to lie down while watching TV.

yeah I like the flocking too. Talk about it more. How and what did you use?
RE: TV and rear bench, Keep both. If the bench is still removable, then cut the legs off or down to the floor to lower it. Or mount the TV on a movable arm, like the ones in motel rooms, to raise it as an option.
Great looking build so-far!

IThe plan is to add dirt(pigments) near their feet.

The carpet is quite simple. Just base coate the floor with a flat red(must be flat/matt) paint the floor with diluted white glue and add the flocking material. It is quite difficult to add the flocking material even, but just shake the part gently and the material will even out. When dry blow of any excess material. Be very careful not to inhale those small fibres. I doubt they are good for your lungs. I used flocking material similar to this. http://www.modelcargarage.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=16

Almost there.
I have finished the interior. Added a bit of dirt on the floor and to the back of the frontseat. Desperately trying to teach my kids NOT to put their boots on the back of the backseat.
Engine and undercarriage almost finished. Just need to add radiator and header.

I had planed to add various stains, but the bench sits in relativ darkness, when the body is mounted, so I'll leave it as it is.
