OK the members have spoken and picked this to be my build for the KitMakers Staff Challenge.

Even though it is a real antique kit, it doesn't look that bad in the box, and hopefully will be a rather straight forward mostly out of the box build until AMS kicks in, and then there is no telling what will happen.

Hi Dave!
Nice you are going to build an old Renault police car! It looks like it drive just out of a 'Commisaire Maigret' novel.
What's that with the doors?

Maybe they were cut down for those blazing gun battles through the streets of gay Parrie.

I can honestly say I don't have this one in my stash......nor would I ever hope to.
Looks like a fun build though Dave. And if you hurry, you could probably enter this one in the emergency group build since it's a........police?........car of some sort.

I'm one of the guilty voters that voted for this kit to be built.
If you have the time, some sprue shots would be interesting.
Does this kit provide a separate chassis or is it molded to the whole pan as one piece?

Sorry forgot to take sprue shots.
I'll try to post a few photos later tonight of my progress.
It's been many moons since I did a 1/24th vehicle.

Oh, I was hoping you would get to build the Pie, Dave. And yes, I voted for it. C'mon, it looks like it would be a fun build...doesn't it?

Well, surprisingly I actually got a little modeling time in this week end.
So here's a little progress report:

Got the chassis and front end assembled. Steerable front wheels, held together with the old heated screwdriver technique. A little filler needed to blend in the center piece. Also lost the detail for the rubber mats, I'll use some fine grit sand paper to replace it.

Seats cleaned up, and placed in position.

Pretty nice detailed engine and trans-axle, considering the kits at least 30 years old.

The one sides' interior panel.

The body, I have sanded off the light mold parting lines with 320 grit wet/dry paper.

Well, that about wraps up this week end report, hopefully I'll get an hour or two to model during the week.

Hmmmm, just noticed that she doesn't have a rotary beacon...odd for a police car. Easy enough to scratch though....
Looks good so far Dave....welcome to the world of automotive modeling{non armor types that is}.

Nice to see you started Dave. Hopefully I'll be joining you here soon

What are you planning to use for plug wires? Or you just leaving them off?

I had hoped to see the W&G.
Even though this is not Wallace and Gromit it looks like a fun build.

Please don't! It is so characteristic for this car!! Look pictures below.

Also "Pie" is the French name for 'Magpie' (the black and white bird) and is common nickname for french black and white police patrolcars
