It might be because of the photos (the intense light makes the mud shine a lot), but I think you could airbrush some satin and matt varnish in the top areas so the mud doesn't look wet everywhere, only on the lower part of the vehicle (doors, tires and around the tires, grill, outer part of the hood/bonnet...)
