Why a lack of 1/25 figures?

I could have sworn that there used to be more 1/25 figures on the market in the past, but I can hardly find any recently. Or am I looking in the right places? Thanks.

I'd say it's probably supply vs demand.

As much as I'd like to see more than just those figure sets offered by Tamiya or Fujimi (IIRC), I don't exactly see many automodellers putting drivers in their vehicles, or even creating garage/workshop/civilian dioramas.

There are also other manufacturers such as Flintstone. One problem is that the sculpting of these figures most of the time arent even close to the sculpting of historical figures in 54mm, 75mm and 90mm.

Cheers

I'd love to put some driver figures in my 1/25 trucks, but there really aren't any driver figures available. Oh, Italeri has three figures in their "Accessory Set" (one driver wearing sandles & two guys standing around), and Preiser used to sell a set (1 driver & two passengers (1 male & 1 female)); but that's about it.

I was told that 75mm was close to 1/24, but most of them are scantly clad females with very large ... (this is a family board).

yes I've seen those and similar... http://www.seltd.net/cgi-bin/ez-catalog/cat_display.cgi?account=X344897;search=17;search=Dudez%20%27n%27%20Babez;limit=category;v=2.0

Hoppin' Hydros have these figures. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&P=SM&I=LXXGJ8. I don't think that they are IM plastic though. I have a bunch of the Homies figures that are that toy figure plastic and are probably the same.

"steering wheels"...........and the problem was?.........

I have a very old set of tamiya drivers made out of the soft plastic, but because they're so old they are very brittle now...seems I fix one break and the driver snaps elsewhere...I'm hoping to finish one for my chapparal.

Janne, the reason is most likely because they're seen as accessories to plastic models, and not stand alone figures. But I think you'll find a huge difference in the quality of sculpt even between plastic military figures (1/48 and 1/35 scale) and your historicals in resin and white metal.

Yup, a 1.8m (+- 6' ) height converts to about 75mm at 1/24. Nothing like big steering wheels to accessorise a shiny new car

Thanks for those links KSO. Those homies look nice, even if they are toy plastic figures.

No, not steering wheels, big headlights. Nothing accessorizes a car like a nice set of headlights.

Thanks for the links!

When I inquired, I learned that seltd's products are 1/24-1/25 scale and unassembled and unpainted.

True, esp. the the ones with rear end blinkers ... ok, I might have gone too far with it...

I've always found the lack of 25th Scale Figgys to be a real problem. Nothing makes a long hard project come to life more than a Figure or two. Now anymore, I sculpt them myself so I don't have to rely on other manufacturers. As far as the resin market goes, heck I'll sculpt 'em if they want to cast 'em!

R.L.,

Those are a couple of nice figures you've got there. Personally, I cannot use them; but they are really nice. Ever thought about doing any drivers? I need guys behind the wheel, doing what truckers do: drive.

Figures really add something to a model, and when the subject is something that one isn't around every day they can add a sense of scale. Gives the viewer something to relate to.

Jim, there is the Italeri figures in the truck accessories kits and I've seen some of those modded nicely in model truck world mag. Problem is they're 1/24 only.

Yeah, and the other problem is you get all of that other junk, too.

Some of it can be used for US trucks...not much though. I'd like the "liftgate" set...all I have is the origonal one. AMT needs to pony up with an accessory set as such, with figures and add on pieces..and different rims.

That would be nice, but don't hold your breath. We're luck Round2 is reissuing what we're getting. I'm like to get a couple of those International 4300s. Convert one to a 9000.

These 1/24 scale kits have a driver included. He's a bit stiff OOB, but can be customized with some putty. All of these kits have the same driver.
