Hello,

I've taken a rest from building armour and planes and found a new

interest building cars and commerical trucks. Where is the best place to

get detail parts for drag cars and trucks? Looking for details for race

engines and all the assorted plumming, and for commerical trucks,

looking for conversion parts. 1/24 and 1/25 scale.

Thanks
jimb

John,

As for detail parts for drag cars, I haven't got a clue, but for comercial trucks' that I do know.

Your best source for aftermarket parts for 1/25 & 1/24 trucks are:
Chris at Sourkraut's Model Trucks
Dave at American Industrial Truck Models
Bud at Rivers Edge Design

And for decals, Brad at Model Truckin' really can't be beat! Of course Jim at JBOT makes really good decals, too. But his Web Site is closed for now, and he's trying to catch up.

I hope this helps.

John,

It all depends on what type of drag cars you're looking to build.

Modern cars are tough since there hasn't been a kit released in about 8 years and even that tooling was dated.

I'll try to give you about five to start with:

1) Competition Resins http://www.compresins.com/

2) Altered States http://www.alteredstatesmodels.com/

3) Slixx Decals http://www.slixx.com/

4) Ross Gibson Engines through Detail Master http://www.detailmaster.com/

5) Last is Replicas and Miniatures. Norm Veber is the owner and he doesn't have a website though he email address can be found here http://www.mamasboyz.org/Spon.html

Competition Resins handles both old and new. Altered States handles primarily old drag racing. Gibson Engines is engines only and are all resin. Slixx carries Competition Resins as well as others along with their own line of decals and R&M handles old drag racing parts and some new.

You can also find parts from Drag City Casting http://www.dragcitycasting.com/ and RB Motion who only carries machined parts of his own making like functional coil-over shocks, hyme joints, etc. Robert doesn't have a website but he can email you a parts list [email protected]

Hope this covers the drag cars section of your question...
