Hi all,
Well I've decided to throw caution to the wind and with complete disregard for my sanity and have made a start on my Air-Cooled vehicle - hoping to make one of these

Had hoped to get more done on the body bucks but it started raining heavily, so have had to head indoors and will make a start on the chassis and engine. Body and front fenders will be vac-formed hence the bit of wood work (still more sanding and shaping to go )

Cool...the 1950's batmobile!

Cool Casper i will be watching this build very closely. What year was this car made?

It's a czech Tatra T 87 built between 1936 and 1950. You can read more about it here:

A truly beautiful car, and it had rear mounted, air cooled V8 engine.
It will be very interesting to see how this will come to life. Casper, what scale it will be?

Hi Roger,

I'm going to hazard a guess and say this is the Tatra T87? I don't think the T77/77a had the side air-scoops and the later T97 had the split rear window.

Interesting project. I'll definitely be following this one

Yep, it's a Tatra T87, my build is in 1/24th scale.
At this stage the only kit parts to be used will be the tyres (if I can find a suitable set !).
Had another wet windy day so didn't get to finish the body shell bucks but managed to get some more work done on the engine block and chassis (not a conventional style chassis - see pic). It's not just an Air-Cooled V8 but an Air-Cooled Hemi V8, just one of many unique features of the Tatras.
Anyways heres the 1:1 chassis and engine I'm trying to repilcate .
