Rare find. Photo taken in Hagerstown, MD. Curious on the year. Anyone?

That's the Desoto Fireflite introduced in 1955, build till 1960.
DeSotos sold well with over 114,765 examples produced.
In 1956, a gold and white Fireflite convertible was the Official Pace Car for the 1956 Indianapolis 500. The Fireflite convertibles were rare, with only 186 produced.
Looks in good condition.

Erik is correct, it is a DeSoto Fireflite. It's either a '55 or '56, depending on the grille. The '55 had a grille with a horizontal row of chrome "teeth", whereas the '56 had more of an eggcrate grille.

In '57, the car got a pretty wild redesign, courtesy of Virgil Exner, style-guru at parent company Chrysler. Think '57 Chrysler 300C - big, hooded quad headlights and massive fins - with a DeSoto nameplate.

Could have a 354 hemi under the hood if she's a '56...331cu hemi for the '55
Chrysler, dodge and desotos got the hemis, if ordered as such. I like the early boat anchor hemis.

Sorry, scratch that...'55 was the 291 hemi...'56 was the 330 hemi...so sayeth the hemi book.
Subtle differences between all three makes hemis....

The V8 badge is what got my attention. I was under the impression that it might have a small block V6 not a Hemi. Guess I'll have to read up on this one.
Thx guys.

Doh! Dave got me.

The taillights are different on the '56. You would think I would have seen this, especially since I have a pic of a '56 Pace Car tacked to my wall.

So it's a '55.

I'd love to see the motor on that one on the trailer...if it's a hemi it should have the 2x2bbl carb set up.
I once owned a '58 Imperial{tiny car } for the motor...392cu in hemi with 1x4bbl. Carb options for that year were single quad, dual quad and the injection set up. Mine wound up sporting the twin log manifold that had 6 strombergs{3 bolt}, but I redrilled it for holleys{4 bolt}. Two 6 pak linkages and your up and running...wish I had kept that thing!!!!! I had 3 sets up valve covers...chyrsler firepower{chrome}, firedome{painted} and plain - no script/painted.
I always liked the '60, myself.
You just don't see too many desotos out there anymore...a shame really.
Somebody's getting a nice clean car, somewhere.
Nice pics! Thanks!

I'm going to add some more ammo to this if I may. Note that is car has only one muffler set up, right side. If I remember if this was a Hemi set up, a two muffler system should be in place, or am I just blowing smoke here?
Thoughts, Opinion welcome.
