Hi all,
usually a figure modeler or an AFV modeler, now for something completely different.
Am in the early stages of sculpting my brother and his fiance, riding a motorbike.
Though about cannibalising a kit, except I am concerned about the long term life of the parts; wheels holding the weight of all that clay and stuff.......
How would I go about making up a spoke wheel?
Used to have an article from Fine Scale Modeler hanging around, cant find it since moving house.
The model is going to be based on a Ural Retro, with side car. Scale is going to be about 1/10 - 1/15 ish (that may have to change, still in planning stages)
much appreciated for any help
cheers
Jamie

Good luck!

Thanks for that Leroy;
yep, when I do this, I'll definitely be doing an SBS on ere too (share the learning, always helps)
looks simple enough, just a bit fiddly and repetitive.....
hopefully, the SBS will allow those that follow to find an improved way!
cheers

If you after strength then have a gander here:

There are a couple of aircraft modelling sites that have similar lacing methods but can't locate them at the 'mo.

Ok, started gathering materials and making plans!!
in the sculpting section, there is now a blog, which will be mostly dedicated to the actiual sculpting of the figures.
I'll do a blog here on scratching the wheels.
The bike is going to be simplified a fair degree, as the focus is on the couple, not the bike - apologies to the purists out there, I only have till April to get this complete!!
cheers for now!

Hi I am attempting to make hubs/spokes/wheels for the Italeri ww2 harley 1/9 kit.I was wondering how your wheel attempt came out ? Any pix or input?Your post is from last year with few replies I think only the truly infected would attempt scratch building spoked wheels ,so it must be worth it! I went to the sites provided as well Thank you

James (and others)
Yep, got the project done, presented just last weekend, and I will do a SBS on how I wired the wheels up.
Mine is for smaller kits, and much simplified.
Plus, mine was based on the fact that I have very few tools besides a compass, a biro and a protractor......
There is a more involved SBS of the entire effort on Historica Forma, I'll do some postings here though.
Cheers
