Here is my first serious build in the shinny side of modeling
I am converting it to a bob tail cargo truck and might scratch build a car hauler to pull behind it.

Here are some new pics of the progress. I have the spoiler added and most of the cargo box done. I am going to try to scratch a lift gate for the rear.

If anyone has any pics or info on the cargo lift gate I could sure use it.. Thanks

Coming along nicely. Someone might have a spare lift gate from the Ford LN8000 kit.

These might come in handy, too: Body & Lift Gate Decals. I have a set; they're quite nice.

Thanks for the link James. I have been looking for all the sources for these trucks. Added it to my favorites.

I got most of the tractor done. I still have the mirrors and graphics to do. I have to do the cargo box over. I screwed up the paint on it and have striped off the old paint. I think that I will build up a roll up door for the rear instead of the double doors. I did not like the way they turned out anyways.

Sweet lookin' machine Dave. It's nice to see more trucks being built here. Hope you're not gonna make this a one time thing though, since we have a truck group build coming up soon.

BTW, awsome work on the cargo box.

Thanks Herman. No this is not a one time deal. I have already signed up for the truck build in May. Got the kit set aside for that. I have changed a lot on this build already. I de-chromed the stacks steps, marker lights and horns. I am not a big fan of a lot of chrome. Living on the beach here in Fla. has cured me of chrome. I like the old school retro look the best. I also changed the rear cargo doors for a roll up one. I also plan to add a lift gate to the cargo box. I will post some update pics soon.

The 359 Expediter is almost done. Just a few minor things and the installation of the rear lift gate.

How'd you do the red marble paint on the van/box? Cool!

This is an old trick we used back in the 50's and 60's. I painted a black and silver base coat and then the top coat of red. While the paint is wet I cover the top coat with plastic wrap and pat it lightly. Pull off the wrap and part of the paint comes with it. Lightly sand and add several coats of clear gloss.

Thank you!...too cool an effect!
This is why we middle agers{me} and younsters hang around here for....for the pearls of wisdom imparted to us by our more knowledgable modeling brothers.

That's seriously cool as all get out. Never heard of that painting technique but I'm sure gonna try it in the future. Would make an interesting urban camo effect with white/grey/black.

Yes it will. I painted a friends motorcycle this way using the same colors. I use house of colors paints.
