Howdy,
I am building the Revell CJ-7 Renegade and want to lift it to put larger tires on it. I've aready installed small black washers where the body mounts to the frame. But I would still like to lift it a bit more.Would the next step
be making bigger shackles to where the leaf springs attach to the frame to get the height needed. Thanks John

Lengthening the shackles is one way to get the extra lift. Usually, the shackles are molded as solid pieces of plastic on the ends of the leaf springs, so adding some styrene here is all it takes. Or, if you feel like getting down and dirty with the detail, you could build yourself a set of extended length shackles, mount them to the frame, and hang the springs from them.
Another option would be to do a mini spring-over axle conversion. This puts the axle on the bottom (closer to the ground) side of the leaf spring pack, effectively raising the suspension. With a little careful cutting, this is a pretty straightforward swap for your Jeep suspension.
