Well, though I need to button up what's on the table I have two ideas{just two?!} that call out to me to build in 1/25;
1) what could be made out of two Mack AC hoods, weigh in around 12 tons, and could be a load for a flatbed;
A- http://www.backwoodsminiatures.com/xmackdrw.jpg
B- http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/mack12a.jpg
{if you answered "B" you'd be correct, but A would be neat too}
2) next idea really lights a fire under me-

...scaling out the back end for the build would be some work.

Hi Bob,

OTR: Over the Rails?

How odd do the pneumatic tyres look on the fire truck!

That little double-ender is sweet. You could do one with tyres as a rad truck!

Grubby.

1)Actually, "balloon tires" were an option on the AC's and fairly common.
2)You couldn't put regular wheels on that switcher...she was made for the rails only.

Actually it may be both...just found a guy who has the old Narrow Gauge and shortline gazette mag that I'd need for the 12 ton switcher and the fire trailer may be simple "TLAR", but I'd like alittle more before starting the trailer than that.

It appears that online info on 1908 Hayes 85' aerial trailers is pretty scarce{converted trailer in the fire engine pic}...can't find any line drawings and not much more than the supplied pic above for one of those{surprising}, and, if there's a drive shaft on that tractor it ain't gonna be much of one with the chain drive tranny length!

Bob,
one of my Mack books has quite a bit of info and photos of the rail vehicles (can't remember the title and they are all on loan at the 'mo ).
Yonks ago I stumbled on a website that has heaps of info on Mack Fire Appliances, I'll see if I can track it down again (can't find it in my Favorites) had some photos of an ultra-long wheelbase AC ladder truck.
