Anyone tried one of these? The closest kit that I've been able to find is Roscoe's police car. It's something like a 1977 Dodge Monaco and the bluesmobile was a 1974. Looks like most of it's the same except for the front end (grill, lights, and hood).

I wouldn't think it would be too hard to cut the grill down by half, use some different headlights from the spares box, and maybe extend the hood and wrap it down over the front with a bit of styrene sheet.

What do you guys think?

And why am I getting interested in more cars and trucks? I'm supposed to be building WWII props with some armor from various periods on the side. You guys drugging me?

LOL...addicting isn't it?! Look at it this way...variety is the spice of life..build some armor...build some shiney stuff.......repete....
Now, for your build. The Jake and elwood '74 monoco is alittle different than the '77 monoco that's available.
Here's a '77 in police colors with a nice front/side shot and the rear..

Here's shots of the '74 blues brother's car-

On a whim I checked out modelhaus, flintstone, r&r and hendrix resin and found nothing on a '74 monoco body...bummer!
You can scratch the rear tail-lights and alclad II chrome them as well as the grill....the body{and maybe it's me} seems more notchy on the back of '74 than on the '77/78....the newer style seems to flow back more.
I'd be a car worth building for alot of reasons....you comptemplating the huge megaphone speaker?

I blame model ADD. LOL

The rear end does look slightly different. The 74 looks like it still has what might be called the "nubs" of the older fin style rear ends from the late 50s. Not sure it would be too noticeable in 1/24, but I'd have to fondle the kit to tell.

Oh yeah, the speaker is required!!!

Yeah, the '74 does look sorta squared off alittle...nothing that isn't reworkable though. You'll need to find alot of good side and front/rear shots and compare them from both cars, side by side..."close" would be good enough. The decals would be homebrewed and wouldn't have to be precise since you'd be nearly covering them in grime anyway....wish I knew you were thinking about his build before I hit the car show this last weekend...there were 4 blues bros cars there...hind site, huh......

i've been wanting to do this one for a while, but your pics actually got me to thinking about it again. I've got alot of builds in the que so if I can restrain myself I may get you to do sort of walk arounds at that show next year.

A Blusmobile has been in the back of my mind for a while now as well, perhaps we have the beginnings of a Movie-inspired Cars Group Build ??

One of my all-time favorite movies, and one of the classic lines from the front seat . . .. . . .

"S##t !"
"What ?"
"Rollers"
"No"
"Yeah"
"S##T !"

Simple but effective.

Movie group build sounds great!

Sheriff Buford T. Justice's car in Smokey and the Bandit (after the roof was cut off)
Some crazy person has to do Snowman's truck
Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters
Mad Max Interceptor
back to the future deloreans

Lots of others likely to

Anything from "The Great Race" especially Professor Fate's black Hannibal Twin 8, with a scratch-built scissor-lift.

"Push the button, MAX !"

1- you picked another not available car kit....the '77 LeMans sedan, let alone a coupe. I'd pay a small ransom for a 1/25 scale '73 LeMans GranPrix like my dad had long ago...or a '74 or '75 LeMans too.
2-I've been called worse
3-still missing that one for my build collection
4-Got two kits....1 kit stock and one with the resin airdam, trunk lid and other parts to make the origonal car as it debuted out of the garage schene.
5-like to take any of those kits and try and build a stock DeLorean from it.

Hmmm...this kind of campaign has been mentioned before...and I just now thought of the perfect vehicle for it when the days comes that it becomes a real deal...I have the needed kit!
