Hi Everyone, first time post for me.
My name is Chris, and I like most types of modeling. I have a passion for 1/1 carts also, so I also have a liking for 1/24 cars too. I love looking at barn/field finds, and as I am primarily a military modeller, I like to weather stuff, so that suits!

I really admire car modelers for their skills and abilities to get those awesome show piece standard paint finishes,. I have been looking on the net at DrCranky's stuff, as well as many others to get inspiration for my project. Anyway, enough about that, here are some pics of my recently completed model. Hope you like it, and feel free to offer suggestions or feedback. I am always happy to learn from others.

some earlier construction shots...

I really enjoyed the build and I think I could be hooked as I already have plans for the next one. So much to learn and so little time.

thanks for looking.

Chris

G'day Chris, and welcome to the madhouse that is Auto Modeler !

That old Chev is stunning mate, beautifully done. The good thing is that even in that state it's still a much better looking car than a brand new shiny MOPAR.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, perhaps you will join the chaos of the Chev vs Hemi group build ?
You can find the inmates HERE hurling insults and praise at each other and generally having a good old time.

What is on your workbench at the moment?

Yeah, Chris! That's good stuff. The rusty chrome bumpers caught my eye too, besides the rear window/seat/headliner area-- very believable.
I caught myself saying "aw, they left off the carburetor, now the engine needs a complete tear-down."
cheers!

Well done on all points, I especially like the bumper and grill rust look as well as the back seat top........can't wait to see the next "find".

thanks everyone for the welcomes, feedback and comments. I really appreciate it.

Damian, the Chev Vs Mopar build sounds really interesting. Being a Ford man though, I might need to build a Mopar as well! althought the next car to get the treatment is a 57 Nomad.

Sean & Bob, thanks for the feedback on the bumpers. I was a little worried they didn't look quite right, but after both of your comments, I am happy with them as they are.

cheers everyone.

Hey Chris, did you check the rules and regulations for the Chev vs Hemi Group Build HERE , we all have to build one from each camp. This rule was added late and has caused all sorts of problems, especially with those like me with a severe allergy to all things MOPAR. I have a 71 Cuda Convertible that I am being forced to build and it is giving me nighmares.
The discussion thread leading up to the group build is hilarious if you have a spare minute, it can be found HERE

Progress report when available please !
