Got myself my first scale motorbike today (Tamiya 1/12 Yamaha YZR-M! '09 Estoril Ed,) but I'm not sure how to go about creating a carbon fibre effect for some parts.

Any tips and suggestions are much appreciated

I found a good way to do this is spray a layer of dark gray, then spray a second layer of darker gray through a piece of fine mesh. Hope this helped!

You can use old stockings or tights for the fine mesh (but get permission for SWMBO first ) or you can buy loads of different colour carbon fibre decals from a few of the online shops.

The painting effect can be used in 1/24 (even than it looks unrealistic.) but in this scale you will need some decals for this.
Scale motorsports is one of the best CF out there.
This is the one you need, the 1/12 one

SMS carbon

From the European suppliers i would suggest you Hiroboy
