I have just got a friend into Formula 1 and he got his hands on a bunch of season reviews dating back to the early 70's. he has been on a total immersion binge, which is cool as he is getting 30 years of F1 for the first time. As we both build kits I thought i'd get him a F1 car for his birthday. As he started his learning curve with the 1973 season I thought it would be cool to get him one of those older F1 cars. 73 was the last (or close to) where they had those big air vents over the driver. So far the only ones I have been able to find are Model Factory Hiro and yes they are spectacular but at 350.00 a kit ummm no. Fujimi has a lot of Ferrari but not much old, Tamiya has a mix but more 1980's onwards. Is there any other maker doing f1 kits which are not massively expensive?

Tammy makes a number of 1970s vinatge kits... some have been reissued, other you can find floating around on E-Bay, etc. You should be able to find most of them for less than $350!
