Anyone make one of these? I'm looking for a Swift yard truck, or something similar.

It wouldn't be too bad to scratch one since it mainly has flat body parts. I used to work at UPS and probably almost got run over by several of these jokers. hahaha

For some reason I cannot get this link to sit right!
it should be a link to Truck Model World where theblog is on a scratchbuilt Yard Shunter that might be of help to you.
Maybe someone can fix the link.

Got it to work. Why did he put the cab on the wrong side? hahaha
That's going to help quite a bit though, thanks.
I might start with an older cab over. I'd imagine that most of the stuff other than the cab should be similar.
Thanks,
John

None of the current plastic manufacturers or resin casters offers a yard goat. You'll have to scratchbuild the cab and any of the components. The AMT GMC Astro/95 or Chevrolet Titan/90 should give you a decent kit to gat many of your major components from.
Have fun & pist pics.

Cool, I'll go with the Titan.
Is that an older kit or something? The Titans are around $30 on ebay and the Astros are $60 or more.

Actually, just the opposite. The itan was reissued by Round2 back in late 2008, so they are still being produced & are readily available. The Astro was limited reissued in 2004 by RC2/Ertl, and is now out of production. RC2/Ertl also offered them for a higher price than Round2 offers their kits for.
They are essentially the same except for the grill & badges. Both have the 5-spoke wheels & both have the Detroit Diesel 8V71N.

Before you go and deal with eBay, check with Dennis over at Model Express. He has Titans & Astros at reasonable prices.

I'll order from him. The only bad part about you showing me his site was that I saw 4 or 5 other car kits that I'd really like to get. He's got some really cool stuff! He's even got the first kit that I ever built (an el camino when I was around 7, yes, I'm a hillbilly). hahaha
Thanks for the link Jim.
