My 1/24 scale scratchbuilt trailer and very heavily modified/scratchbuilt Scania 8x4x4 tractor unit. I am working on a load for this beast. Never easy finding something affordable in this scale.

What I firstmost need to learn is to finish some models! I don't like the painting of the models, I love to build and modify, but painting is not so loveable at my workbench....
It's not what tecniques you know, it's the way that you use them! And you sir, you know how to use them!
You should bring some of your models to Skala 2013, IPMS norway's main event next year. I would like to see the live!

Thanks. Taking models outside my country of residence have alwalys been a concern of mine. Transport is never my best friend. That is why I never visit shows outside Sweden simply because I am afraid my models will never make it safely to its final destination. So I cannot promise anything but I do appreciate your kind thoughts.

Totally cool Charles. Its out of your normal armor modeling comfort zone. I like it a lot. Did you added the 3rd axel to the tractor or is that OOB kit? Again, totally awesome and thanks for sharing it.

Hi Mike. _Thanks. Yep, something really out of my range of military pool. 
Yes, the third axle was added. The base of the model is a normal 2 x 4 tractor unit which is the standard when buying a truck kit. Meaning it had only the front and one rear axle when I bought the kit. I also lowered the roof and added al the details from scratch and/or parts were taken from other models. The trailer was scratch built.

Take a minute please to talk about you posted wheel designation on this tractor. I don't understand the 8x4x4 you are using. Perhaps common wheel designation practice differs between the US and Europe just as railroad locomotive designations.
I understand the tractor started as a standard 4x2 but now after your conversion is it a 8x2 or a 8x6? (One axle powered or three axles?)
If you could move that vehicle model to the edge of an actual highway pavement it would be indistinguishable in photos from the real thing. Love it.

Its actually a 8x2. Two axels(at the rear) act as drives and the two front steers. Its basically a difference of how the axels are named in different countries, as I was told. 8 wheels in total, with a total of 4 axels, with 4 drive wheels. Hence the 8x4x4.

The 8x4x4, means that the front 2 axles are not powered, while the last 2 axles are powered. Mike, I hope this helps you!

Thanka for the explanation Ronnie. Here is another clarification of these definitions - example:
4x2 refers to: "Total number of wheels on the tractor" x "Total number of drive wheels". Each axle is a pair of wheels, so two axles, one is a drive axle.
6x2 = Six wheels, two of them are driven, so 3 axles - one is a drive axle.
6x4 = Six wheels, 4 of them are driven, so 3 axles - two are drive axles.
6x2x4 = Six wheels, 2 of them are driven, 4 of them are steering, so 3 axles - two are steer axles and one is a drive axle.
There are only two wheels on an axle, a tandem rim/tyre counts as one wheel only.

I have quite a few years experience in this field but this is my first time to encounter this form of wheel designation.
To me that center "4" in the 8x4x4 designation tells you absolutely NOTHING, not how many wheels steer, nor how many wheels are powered.
Again I thank you - I will now just walk away quietly shaking my head in disapproval and disbelief of the younger generation.

I quite understand your frustration. I was like, What!!!, the first time I read the explanation of the wheel designation. But eh! Its what it is...and I'm 50 years of age.. Hahahaha!

Thanks a million Russell. Glad you like the results. Planning another anotherheavy hauler truck build, with a front loader pulling a haul up-hill as a helper. I am just waiting for some parts to come into plat before starting on it. In the mean while, I'm gonna try my hand at a ship wreck and water modeling.
