Mega Windmill Transporter v. mad modelle

Hello,

I want to show you my next project - the "mega windmill transporter" in 1/24 fom "Mad Modelle". It is one of the biggest truck kits in the world - more then 1000 CNC-made parts, etched parts, pipes, rubber tires, fenders, ... and a lots of more.

Here are some pictures of the real monster:

The kit from "mad modelle"

I will start the building with the 3-axle dolly which is the smallest part of the transporter... here are the necessary parts:

So let's go on

Hope you like it!

That's a cool looking trailer. I'll be following thos one, too. 1000 CNC parts? It must have cost a fortune!

Hi at all,
it IS a fun-project - definitily And I kept it on my "stock" a very long time as I could not touch it earlier... now I got a 2nd one luckily... so I could start one
Ähm.... price.... hmm... not cheap... but for the size and quantity and quality of the parts OK....

Hello @all...

I just started with the monster....

I glued the main parts of the dolly filled and sanded a little bit to get a smooth surface of the separate parts. After that I glued the tanks which consist of round pipes with two pieces on each side. All the tanks also need filler and sanding before I could mount the tanks in the holders and to the dolly.

The next steps will be a weldseam all around the main frames and pipes at the tanks.....

The legs were movable - a pull spring is connecting the legs inside of the corss beam so that you could change their positions at any time! A very interesting and great working construction! Great idea mad!

The wheel suspensions were completly finished, only the rubber parts where not finally mounted so that I could remove them for the painting. The complete suspensions were not yet glued to the main fraim yet.

The cables and pipes were mounted with super glue and tape and installed a little bit as on pictures... but not as much pipes as the original one... I am missing a detailed picture of this part... possibly somebody could help with that?

Looking Good!
One question though, shouldn't there be a cross member between the two air tanks in the middle?

Cheers Rob.

Hi Rob,
not in the mounting instruction... and I do not have a picture of this area...
So the mounting instruction says no, also mad has not included any part for that....
So I do not really know if something is missing here... unfortnately....

Could someone help?

Hello,

As I will be on a short holiday for the next days till Sunday I wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS and some pleasant days with the ones you love!

Hello @all.

The front lift adaptor is finished and ready for the painting. All movable parts could be demounted again for the painting as well as the tanks and other smaller parts on top of it.

The next step is the 7-axle rear dolly with full steering axles (also in the kit!). This is the biggest part of the kit with the most spare parts which wait for being glued together

The rear dolly is nearly finished...

Follows the rear lift adaptor which will be exactly the same as the front one.

After that I wil lthink about the painting... dark yellow as the tractor too... black fenders, silver wheels... something like that...
