I had a chance to meet Alex in a chance encounter at a local hobby shop earlier this week as he was passing through town. If you ever have the opportunity to talk with him in person I'd highly encourage you to, he is a great guy to talk with and loves to share his work and talk shop. He happened to have two of his scratchbuilt creations with him and was kind enough to bring them in for me to photograph. I don't think that any photo can truly do justice to his work, especially my humble phone camera, but I thought I'd share these with you all the same:

This is his award-winning Ariel W/NG 350cc British Military Dispatch Motorcycle:

Thanks for posting these, Jeremy.

I met Alex just a few weekends ago at the AMPS International Convention in Atlanta, and worked a Judging shift with him. I also was able to talk to him some after the shift and on Sunday when everyone was leaving the hotel. I had no idea he is an AMPS Master until the awards ceremony Saturday evening, and as you stated he is easy to talk to and interesting. Not your average armor model geek.

And as the two samples above clearly show, he is skilled and knows what he's talking about.

My pleasure Jeff. Alex is definitely a very unassuming individual to say the least, not at all average as you aptly stated!

LOL Dave

I'm glad you guys are enjoying! He is very talented, and I spent a good hour or so picking apart and discussing the details about his two creations. I can't even fathom creating the wire wheels on the Ariel from scratch for instance, but he walked me through everything I asked about and it was very enlightening. I'll see if I can't get some time to talk with him again and maybe see some of his works in progress. He told me that he is working on two Ariel racing bikes that he is going to show even more detail on

Thanks for posting. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a SCAHMS show several years back. His work is stunning and precise.

Cheers,
