Having read AK's new book on extreme weathering I thought I would give it a try. I've bought Revell's 37 Ford Pickup for the job and found some good reference pictures on the internet.
Going through the parts however, I've found a problem with the grill. It's a solid casted block. I've never build a car model before (I'm more into AFVs) but I wonder how you car guys deal with this. Photoe etch? After marked products? Or old school trimming?

Welcome to the Shiny Side!

There are a couple of ways to deal with the grill. The easiest (and probably the most common) is to apply a wash to make the bars stand out. There is a P/E grill set for the 1937 Ford: 1937 Ford Grill And Detail Set that's offerd by Model Car Garage. I've not used it, but it is available.

Here is a pick of my 1937 Ford Panel Van:

I used a wash (and apparently not very well, either)

I think I'll have a go at that PE set. I want the grill to be battered and missing some, so that solution would be best. But boy you can spend money in that place. And I thought it was only us AFV buffs who ruined ourselves.

Thanks for your help
