I was just wondering if anyone has been in contact with Herman, (VonCuda), as some of you are good friends of his. I haven't seen anything by him in the forums for a couple of years now. I know that his wife was having health problems and I was just wondering how he is doing. I miss his involvement here in the forums. I hope that he and his family are well. If anyone speaks with him please pass on my best wishes.

Thanks,
Randy

Even though he was a Chevy basher I do miss him. Have not heard a word from him in a few years now.

I miss Bob Chawgo (old-dragon) too, wonder what happened to him?

Bob Chawgo said he was bowing out to take a bigger part in Scouting with his kids, last I saw. I miss his enthusiasm, Herman's too. It's sad to see people come and go from this site. It's a cool site for making a solitary hobby into a social one.
In Armorama, there was a very enthusiastic Kiwi named Phill, codename WARDDKW (sp?), and he mentioned once in a while about "one more head injury", but then he dropped off the site, taking his enthusiasm with him. I miss that guy too.
There are always new folks coming along though, with new bright-eyed enthusiasm.

Likewise, the Chev vs Hemi thread was great fun!

I email Hermon a couple of times a year and he always replies within a day or two.

Last I heard he and his family were all doing well, he is just incredibly busy with work and teenage sons. He said he really misses the hobby and especially the interaction here on Kitmaker and he hopes to be back amongst us as soon as he can.

I will pass on your wishes in my next email.

Cheers, D

Well said Sean, and good to hear about Bob.

Damian, also great to hear that you've been in touch with Hermon and that he is doing well. You two were like Krazy Kat and Ignatz and had many people laughing while sitting at their computers

Thank you for the info everyone. Glad to hear that he and the family are all well. I was just sitting here the other day and he came to mind for some reason and so I was just curious. I hate to see our modeling friends drop out of sight. Kind of like JackHammer81. Haven't seen him around for awhile now.

Thanks again,
Randy

Thanks for the update. And I'm sure that car is a Chevy also, it's too small to have a decent Hemi.

And poor Herman isn't even here to chime in. What a pity.

Thank you again everyone.

Now that is a superb idea, I might just revive the old threads over on Auto Modeller and see if there is any interest.

I will email 'Cuda as well and see what he has to say about it.

Sounds good to me! I have a 1969 Charger that I just need a reason to build.

Hmmmmm........interesting. I start a post in regards to checking on a member than hasn't been around for awhile and it turns into a campaign proposal. How cool is that?!?!

Maybe this one should be titled the Voncuda/AussieReg Face Off or something!!

Thanks again everyone.

I've just been reading back over the discussion thread and the Group Build thread, what great fun we had throwing mud at each other over a generations old rivalry! I think it would be really good to raise it again and see if we can't get a bit better participation this time round.

I honestly believe that VonCuda finally realised how wrong he was about the whole Hemi superiority thing and has been too ashamed to admit it so he just decided to hide out for a few years, hoping that I would forget about it. WRONG fella, I'm still here waiting !

Check the Auto Modeler boards shortly for more info.

Back to the actual topic of this thread, I have just received an email from our esteemed friend, most of which is unsuitable for repeating in polite company, but some of which can be safely posted here:

"Hello my friend!
Funny as it may sound, I was just thinking of you the other day. It's great to hear from you.

Selina is doing great, pretty much back to 100% now. The oldest son (Hunter) is in military college at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina and the youngest is starting his sophomore year in high school. I'm still working crazy hours. Haven't touched plastic myself since I was last on Kitmaker and I really miss all you guys sometimes. Tell everyone at Aeroscale and Automodeler that once winter sets in here I may have a bit more time to unwind and join back in with you guys.

Really great to hear from you buddy. Look forward to catching up soon. "

So there you go, he is still alive, and from the rest of the email he has not lost any of his sense of humour !

I really hope we get to enjoy his company here again very soon.

Cheers, D

Yes I am alive and well!
I really don't have much free time at all but it makes me feel good to know that my friends from the past still think of me. Randy, I'm glad you started this discussion....otherwise I may have spent another couple of years without building anything.

There is no way I can even think of starting a build until late fall of this year...just not enough time. Soon as the snow starts blowing I should be in good shape to have a little fun. I actually made a visit to the modeling room tonight and had a look around. Still plenty of unbuilt models but sadly all 300 bottles of paint are dried out now.

If you guys will get this thing going I'll give it another go. Man, I have missed this place.

Oh dear, what have we started ?!?!

Seriously good to see you online mate, and even better that you have so little time, perhaps I won't get insulted on a daily basis !

Chev vs Hemi Rivalry Revival discussion thread is up and running over on Auto Modeller.

Well we are all glad that you are still with us. And I am glad that my post got a few things accomplished. We found out that you and the family are well. It got the modeling bug to bite you. And it led to yet another campaign. All good things.

And I have to admit.......the back and forth banter between you and Damian was fun!!

Thanks,
Randy
