Ok, here we go again with Mad Max, this time it's Fury Road vehicle Cranky Frank. Original car is Holden Utility Coupe and while there is resin kits available (not many), I decided to take other route with this build as I don't much like working with resin. So, base kit is Revell '53 Chevy Panel Wagon and I'm also using parts from amt '50 Chevy pick up.

Here's Frank:

And here is work so far:

Thanks guys. Yes, this is really fun build, so far anyway It seems that now that I have rediscovered car models, I find oob builds plain boring. Anyway, here's new rough and ugly in the spirit of rat rod, rear fenders. I used revell'54 chevy fenders to bulk up originals, just glued them on top and will trim them once they are cured:

Making things this way really adds up to fun factor, with shiny show car this just wouldn't work.

Small update on wheels. I don't have correct rear rims so I make them, here's unfinished sample.

Just for laughs I decided to test fit Tamiya Mitsubishi Pajero chassis for this build, and hey it fits (almost). Working steering and suspension, same wheelbase so with bit of trimming this will be the chassis for Frank. True wasteland style, use what you find

Here it is, very first mock up. Ride height at rear isn't final, front is damn near perfect. This project could actually work

One key element is huge scoop, this was build from evergreen plastic tube. As all photos of the car are from angles where exact shape is impossible to determine, I decided to go with gut feeling. Could have been tad longer but as this is first go and it came out quite nice, it just might be that I can live with it.

Next locigal step would be fitting the engine, but as I don't have it yet I just tinker around with small details for while.

Post office strike is finally over and I got my Scale Repros Plus 350 Chevy engine kit. Mounting height is pretty much sorted out.

Shelby Cobra exhaust used here, bit rough and need fininshing but great base for this job as I didn't have to scratch build whole set.

Not much progress during holidays, mainly some interior stuff. Keeping everything quite simple and crude like original, still needs shifter and roll bar.
