Just started AMT's ´1955 Chevy Nomad.
The plan is to lower the suspension, not all the way down in the basement, but lower than stock. A two tone paintjob. The main body color will be Alclad's candy ruby enamel. Most likely black or gun metal for the roof section.
In order to fit the wheels the rear wheel arches needs to be enlarged.

The rear will be lower than this, there just isn't room for the wheels.

Section that needs to be cut out and remade.
The rear axle needs to be shortened.
So a bit of customizing is needed here.

Awesome choice of build Jesper, love the Nomad! Looking forward to seeing how your Alclad Candy comes up as well, it has taken a few coats to get my GTO to a shade and depth I am happy with. What are you going to use as the base silver coat?
Keep the progress shots coming mate, BOWTIE RULES !
Cheers, D

Knew you would like this one Damian
Not yet sure what base color to use for the candy ruby. My initial idea was to use Tamiya silver leaf, but I might go for a darker base color. Will have to do some tests.

Have made the new wheel arches. Desided to make a new trunk bed as well, with two chrome rails.

With the new wheel arches and narrowed rear axle there is plenty room for the wheels, but I then encountered another problem. the frame needs to be reworked as well. Ahh well, back to work.

Added embossing powder, for texture, to the new wheel arches and bed. Still in need of another coat of paint. Don't mind the red and light gun metal paint. Can't quite make up my mind, what color to use for the interior, other than a black carpet, so I'm just experimenting.

Wow!! Like this a lot!! Are you going to tint the windows dark? Or maybe some patterned curtains on shower rod/ring set up?
Go VERY California and put surf racks on top.

Hi Rick. I do indeed contemplate tinted windows. Will do some tests with Tamiya smoke, to see if I an apply it even enough.

Very nice looking car Jesper
Is that Tamiya rattle-can primer? Really nice finish, looking forward to some colour.
Cheers, D
