Yes that is the first release of the Bentley. Always traveled with me. When I arrived in Thailand it was almost a kit again. So I cleaned it from old Humbrol paints and rebuild it. I will post some pictures later.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Some pictures of the special load that will go on the AMT Fruehauf Flatbed Trailer.
As mentioned it was the first release of the Heller kit. Noș 8 Bentley Blower in 1/24 scale. For that time a very good and detailed kit.

Some details from the rebuild kit.

Exhaust pipe at the back of the car.

Lefthand side of the car. Exhaust was rebuild from metal foil. Chassis got some layers of paint and weathering.

The giant fuel tank was completely stripped and got new webbing.

Looking at the engine and chassis. Getting close. Need to address some levers with strings broken of.

Detail from the righthand side. Frame that keeps the fuel tank in position, rebuild from brass tubes. Kit detail shows them moulded on the tank, as with the webbing.

This shows more detail on the webbing. Also the rear lights were attached to the frame that holds the tank.

Front side from the rightt. Detailed the engine and shifting mechanism. Still some work to do on that. Comes close however.

Fuel tank again, now the fuel lines are attached. Detail on the tub is also finish as from this picture.

Some flashing colours brings it alive.

Detailing the engine.

Back of the car, with the tank and fuel lines.

Reworked the grille. Plastic webbing was removed and replaced with very fine brass webbing.

Waiting for a finishing touch.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Robert, you are doing some amazing work on the old Bentley. The weathering and scratch-building are first rate.

I can't wait to see how the whole picture looks once it is put together with the truck.

In a peculiar twist, I am working on a very similar project. I lost my father to cancer in September last year. I grew up building truck and car models with him, and I have the last couple of kits he built about 3 years ago while he was still able.

I am going to fix up the truck/trailer, rebuild and repaint as required, and rather than having the tipper on the trailer, I am going to build a "barn-find" Opel Blitz Fire Truck.

A final "Father and Son" build.

Cheers, D

Cool game it is building trucks in this scale. Sorry about your dad. I grew near the factory where my dad worked, building trucks with special applications for bulk transport. He had some skills for all scales he worked with.

Kind regards

Hello all. I think to start two topics that support this thread. I will split up truck buil from the Fruehauf & special load. The blogs will be linked to the campaign thread. Had some time yesterday and made a little progress on the trailer and truck as well.

More to come.

Kind regards,

Robert Jan

Not much progress on the BT46. Hand brushing Tamiya Flat Aluminum on the bright red plastic of the chassis. This is the second coat. Still more to go.

Here are more pics of painting progress.

Looking a bit more aluminum than red.

The underside of the chassis. Lots more to go.

The floor with fire extinguisher in place just to keep it from rolling away while taking its photo.

Totally forgot about the front end of the chassis. This will eventually be Aluminum, Chrome silver, and semi=gloss black.

The transmission and rear differential along with the two rear uprights. Covering with Gunmetal is easier than Aluminum!

Another seemingly long-term project: painting the damn oil filter!

That ribbon seems so appropriate. might just need to have a little extra space for the inevitable follow on campaign.

You're right. I was going to add the year somewhere in there.

Ah, yes. The joys of old Tamiya kits (actually any older kit). More putty to fill in sink holes in the rear uprights and to fill ejection pin marks on the chassis end plates.

And of course, more coats of Aluminum to cover red plastic.

Hi all

I am starting in with Tamiya's Citroen 2CV. The engine has been built and parts of the suspension. I have no idea where the top of the box has gone. Nice range of builds going on too.

Long sigh.... It's been so long since I buggered up part of the finish attempting a clear coat , that it's starting to get buried under a bunch of airplane parts.
