Ken,
Wow!!
Can't wait to follow your build. I'm a huge fan of the 1960's Ford endurance racing program for which this beast was designed and built by the boys in Deerborn.
Already the detail is just beyond any normal model. Now if someone would just make a 427 Cobra, Cobra Coupe, or a even a GT40 MKII, I would truly be in auto heaven.

Liberty do one in 1/6 it's a die cast and not a kit, it looks good and I did think about getting some of theirs stripping them apart and weathering them. They do 6 or 7 different 1/6 engines I think.

Hi all here is the next update.
The back of the flywheel is full of ejector pin marks

Looks a bit better now

Added the machining detail to the engine casing

Added a bit of the casting texture

Ken,
The bottom end really looks good, especially the machined facings.

Brings back memories when I built my Revell 1/6 426 Hemi a few years ago. Lots of room for detailing. I'll be watching this one!

Ken,
Your skill level is way more then enough. I have to say that it's hard to always realize that I'm looking at a model, not the real deal.

Ken,
I beg to differ with you. The big block really does look like various types of metal, and the individual parts do indeed look like the real deal. I would caution about excess washes, as a new engine build, at least the ones I've done as well as the ones I've seen in person and on tv, are nearly spotless.
I would 1st try a really controlled wash around just raised areas such as nut/Bolts, letters, & numbers.

Ken,
Even with a good long look at your pictures, it's really hard to tell if they're the real deal or not. And yes, the weathering on the twin Carbs looks really quite good. But being brand new, they'd be almost spotless coming out of their respective boxes. In these type of cases, less is certainly more.

Ken,
your facsimile should work out just fine. I'm sure that you can find 100s of photos online to give you a better reference if you want to go that route.

Ken,
As we use to say in the good old days: now that's really Sweet.
I can only imagine at today's high test gas prices what it must cost to keep that Big Boy supplied with fuel, as though those two 4 barrel carbs never did get great gas mileage.

Ken,
Just amazing!! You did a fantastic job of building a super detailed Ford big Block 427 CI engine. Even the oil filter looks real.
My only wish would have been for the kit to include custom exhaust headers along with those stock cast headers.
