Peter,
Welcome to the AutoModeler forum. I'm sure that your build will be something special, as the car's focus isn't what we usually see here as a military model, or will you be modeling a civilian version?
I do remember seeing split window VWs in the early 1960s that were used as station cars. Even my father almost bought one, but opted for a Saab 96 instead. never did figure that one out.

Remember, the gray 'truck' is a post-war VW and not to be used as a reference.
The kit is not actually a Type 82e, though. Wrong floorpan; it's a Type 87.

Hi Joel
I haven't decided what colour but I may use it in a dio in modern era with an old man showing young kids inside and someone taking a photo of it

Peter,
Interesting idea about a diorama. Unfortunately, I've reached the age where I just could be that guy.

Excellent review Peter, many thanks for posting it in this forum. I am keen to see some more of the crossover builds here with ex-military vehicles in civvy service and this would be a perfect example.
That is a stunning vehicle, and one of the best sets of reference photos you could find. Once again, thanks for the link.
If you remember, please post some links to your build so we can follow along.
Cheers, D

Peter,
I'd say that was a pretty good kit review. Based on it, which type of tires/wheels are you planning on using? Personally, I would go for the Rubber tires as there is no glue seam to deal with, and the tires just press fits to the wheels.
One thing I did notice or should I say didn't notice was that there are 5 rubber tires, but I only saw 4 sets of wheels? Is there a 5th wheel set on another sprue tree?
I do like how they handled the split rear window glass as one piece. Should made for a flawless installation.
Looking forward to your actual start as I'll be following right along.

Hi Joel
Mate there seems to be only a spare for the skinny tire (rubber) with the option of front or back hub/rim. You only get 4 fat tires that will go on the car from what I can tell. I will go the rubber tires as I am not a fan of the others. My fav tire is the fat off road tire on the Schwimmwagen

Peter,
Now there's a set of tires that one rarely if ever sees on a VW. Unless it's a converted Myers Manx dune buggy.
