I think this might redefine “labour of love” for me; the BRAT is finally done! It took a lot, and there were so many big and little things that had to be done to get the darned thing together, but I have to say it was all worthwhile.
Since turning one down at the dawn of my interest in car kits, I’ve always wanted a chance to build one of these lovably oddball machines. I got my chance when I picked one up about a year ago, and now it’s done and on my shelf.
Check out my original AMT BRAT, with custom-resized decals in all its chicken-tax-evading glory at the link below, and let me know what you think. Who out there is building the resissue? I’m interested to know if it has the same issues!

Adam,
Very nicely done. Not an easy kit to build, and the decals as you said were a true nightmare. But in the end you've created an excellent display model.

Another great build Adam, and another very entertaining report!
I loved these little trucks when they were very popular as the "Brumby" here in Australia. Lots of my friends had them in the early 80's and a lot of farmers used them to get around the properties as they were tough little units.
Shooters also like them and modify them for "spotlighting" on properties in outback Australia.
Cheers, D

Thanks for the compliments Joel and Damian!
It's cool to see the Aussie Brumbies (is that the correct plural?) and I'd love a later-model BRAT to do up as one.
Did the Brumbies come with the BRAT striping, or did it say "BRUMBY" on it?

There were a few different styles of striping and "Brumby" logos on the various models over the years.
