The time has come to finish the triptych. Didn't know It would this soon but just watched "Ford v Ferrari" so...

There are so many things to like about this kit. Like being just 5 parts in and getting the squishy feeling.

The Ford GT is a slick looking car. This should be an interesting build. Which kit is this?

Marc, I was no later than yesterday pondering this kit and trying to compare it with the Revell one. Eventually I settled for Tamiya's new Supra, because it is a re-badged BMW. That will not diminish the interest with which I'm following the build.
If you pull out that color scheme it will be awesome!

Chassis work continues

Spraying the gloss black was a total cluster… well… you know. Stripped and painted with Mr. Surfacer 1500, which goes down smooth as a baby’s butt, and clear coated with Mr. Color GX100 followed with a leveling coat of straight Mr. Leveling Thinner (aka unicorn tears) Liking it for a 1st coat.
Some minor flirm as to be excepted but the quality of being able sand with a 1500 stick and thin another coat of tears will eventual yield something close to dazzling (I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope)

GX100 over MS1500 for a sweeeeeet gloss black, whooda thunk it?

When I did the red GT and having trouble getting a red that worked someone somewhere mentioned using a flat if I found the right one since what dif did it make with a clear gloss coat. Of course, I didn’t remember that until I did a gloss black and had to strip it. Like sands through and hours glass and so are the memories when ya get old.

Wonderful work on the chassis. But you lost me on the shell. Mr Surfacer 1500, OK, gloss coat, OK, Straight Mr Leveling Thinner, ??? How does that work?

Mark, spraying a light (almost wet) coat of straight MLT onto the paint or clear coat before it cures will slow the curing process and give the paint surface more time to level out, avoiding the dreaded orange peel.

Yes, I use a lot the primers as paints, whenever the black or the gray it's home. I haven't tried yet the pure MLT spraying - how long after paint spraying you estimate will work best?

Gabriel, by the time I’ve emptied the paint out of the cup and cleared the little bit left inside I fill the cup with MLT and coat.

Didn’t relish the idea of painting red stripes over black and have it look like 2 strips of red electicians tape so went with decals. Confidence in the decision is bolstered by having used Tamiya decals on the Honda R272 and they blend in perfectly under a couple of coats of GX100.

I'll let this cure and a light sanding with a superfine grit to get rid of any flirm. A coat of MLT will bring back the gloss.

Funny how a day changes things. Last night I sanded the body and it got a coat of MLT and it looks good. Woke up this morning and I just want it to be done. Never know when you’re gonna run out of F’s to give.😞

The last of the Ford GT is done and the tryptic complete. I got to the point that I felt that I was going to do nothing more t get to the end than fixing the things I F’d up while I was fixing F’ing up. Does that make sense? Happier with the way the photos look than the actual model cuz I can’t see all the problem

Marc, those look awesome! The Ford GT looks like it's going fast even when it's sitting still. Now I want one! (The kit, not the car. Couldn't afford the insurance or the gas.) Question is: Revell or Tamiya?
