I was going to post this in the painting section but since no activity since
Nov figured it get a quicker answer here.
If I decide to go with tinted windows on the GT, is it as simple as painting the inside with Tamiya Smoke or something similar? I have an extra set of clear parts so I have 1 shot at an experiment.

If possible spray Tamiya smoke to get even coverage. If you need another go, Windex (with ammonia) will strip it off without damage to the transparencies.
Or you can tint a small amount of Future/KLEER with food colouring, & dip in that.

I've tried the Tamiya Smoke route several times with poor results. The advantage is that you can strip it easily with IPA.
You can always get some automotive film but it will require crazy patience.

It's a wonderfulwindow, but shorter!
I took the liberty of fixing the typo.

Smoke will give you a red/brown tint, is that what you are going for? I have seen some good results with a super weak mix of black in clear gloss Tamiya Acrylics. Once again, easy to strip off if it's not what you're looking for.

The few times I've needed to tint clear parts I've used a super thin black acrylic paint applied with my air brush. Smooth, even coat without any issues.
